Legacy Health Residency, Portland, OR

Published

Just wondering if anyone else had applied to Legacy Health (Emmanuel Children's Hospital)? This is in Portland, OR. It closed last Friday and I am wanting to know when people start hearing from them about interviews. Thanks for any info you have!!

Well Congratulations on having a job! I pray that wherever I end up, I am soon employed...as an RN! Good luck to you!

how did your interview go??

Congrats on your new job! Where did you apply? There is not much here for new nurses and I'm willing to move....

I have been looking since the end of my first year in nursing school. I apply everywhere to every position that I am qualified for. I don't care where it is, and in some cases don't care if I am qualified or not. The position I eventually got stated they wanted someone with a year of experience. But I just walked in there, sat down with the OR manager and she hired me on the spot. I thought I was just going in to check out the hospital and never expected to have an interview. Now, I have a job, my dream job, in a nice town. You just never know. Keep applying, focus on an area, and be open and flexible about moving. Portland sucks right now, I never expected to get my first job there, and have been looking elsewhere for a long time already. If you are able to move, by all means, move. Portland will still be there, and in a few years the market will be better and you will have your experience to be able to live and work where you please. good luck!

So, I got the first interview and it was my understanding that they would call EITHER way regarding the 2nd interview. Is this true? I still haven't heard anything from them. Thanks and congrats on your interview, Islandteam2003 :)

Hi everyone, me & 5 friends got the 1st interview but not the second. My understanding was that If you did not hear from them after the 19th, then you are not going further. This last week was for the 2nd interviews. It does not hurt to hope for things to change, otherwise try for the 2nd cohort this coming winter!!

I was told at my 2nd interview that there were about 700 applicants, they interviewed 500 in person or over the phone. They narrowed it down to about 80, for 40 positions. Only one of those is for Peds (which is what I interviewed for). I have no idea how many others were interviewed for Peds. Supposed to hear something in 2 weeks...

I got called yesterday for a 2nd interview next week.

Congratulations, I hope the interview goes well. Will keep hope alive that I get called too.

ORRocksRN, which department did you apply to? Are you going to the interview? If I remember correctly you found a job while waiting! If you are going, good luck to you!

I got called for an OR spot. of COURSE, I am going to the interview. I prepared well for this, did everything I could think of to make myself qualified and did a lot of networking. Looks like it is paying off. :)

islandteam2003, how did your interview go? what was it like? was it a panel or manager or both? what were you asked? PM me if you like. thanks!!

I am curious, for those that got a second interview, have you already passed the NCLEX? I wonder if they took that into consideration or if they don't mind that some of us are taking it in August. Does anyone know when they are planning the second residency? I just heard "fall" but not a specific month.
