I wonder if the mom had undiagnosed gestational diabetes, or is that just a given?

On the right hand side of the linked page is a place for people to comment. One person said (and it is spot on) that the baby next to the huge one looked stunned too. LOL.

Wow - My mom had a 10lb 3 oz baby and my aunt had a 12 lb baby - this one beats them all - All I can say is OW!!!!!! I am having sympathy pains!

After 11 kids you wouldn't think she'd need a C/S.
All her previous kids were over 5kg, the article says. So yeah, I'm thinking maybe undxed DM/GDM... If she'd been born at my hospital she'd have won herself a ticket to a LOT of blood sugars!

Did you also see what it said that she ate? A lot of potatoes, pasta and tomatoes. Not exactly a good variety of foods to eat, especially if you're diabetic (which I highly suspect that she is!)
