Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to start a thread for Lawson State Hopefuls Nursing Program SUMMER AND FALL 2016. Are there anyone that will be applying soon or already a Nursing student in the program already? I will be apply in a few months from now

Thank you!!

I have a question since they arent changing the program this fall and still have the lpn and rn how will it work if I got offered lpn. How will it go next year ? Will I be considered to be in one program ?

You will be in the LPN program and graduate in 3 semesters.

Yes you will be in just one program

So which one? Lpn program? Would I HAVE TO STOP AT LPN ? OR will I have the option to go straight through to RN

You would be in LPN if selected for LPN and you have to stop at 3 and come back in a year

The new curriculum had not been implemented until Fall 2017. You would be accepted under the current curriculum and would have to go by those guidelines. LPN is 3 semesters. You graduate , sit for NCLEX, and you can come back after a year and go for RN if you wish. You would return to do 3 more semesters and sit for RN NCLEX

Gosh! In a year lol :( sorry so many questions.

Well if I had to I guess but I may stick with the school in Marion. They already accepted everything an told me I was good they just wanted me to take the ACT again I just dont want to drive that far everyday

No problem. I don't mind d answering

Sorry guys I had to finish up at work, but lstratman you've let me know something I didn't know. I didn't know once finished with lpn I would have to sit out for another year. I've already been kicking my butt for not trying harder in fundamentals and had to sit out for 2 semesters. I wish I'd gotten in RN program. :(

Well I may just try school in Marion thenm they only have RN program but I didnt want to drive all over the place or all over bama for clinicals. I just didnt want to sit out for a year but I did forget u have to work a certain amount of hours after u graduate LPN right ?

You have to sit out a year if you want back in at Lawson because of the rotation of classes. You would join the RN class when they are in 3rd semester. I think you have up to two years for Lawson's mobility eligibility under old curriculum. I don't know about the new. If you don't do mobility within that time frame Lawson makes you start from semester 1. I'm not sure how other schools do it

Yes. Just keep in mind ladies that there is NOTHING wrong with doing LPN first. Yes you may have to sit out a year but that time will pass regardless. You can get hands on clinical training in that year and come back and kick RN school butt. They added about 17LPNS to our class this semester. Heads held high. You all got this!
