RaDonda Vaught made at least 10 mistakes in fatal Vanderbilt medication error, prosecutors say

This article outlines details of the prosecution's case. I am curious as to how the defense plans to pin this on the hospital?

I still can't fathom why the Tennessee BON didn't see fit to require at least some reeducation of Ms Vaught!

Of course. The staff who are already practicing safely get more crap to do.

God, isn't that the truth! The easiest way to tell when somebody at work screwed up and how is by looking at what type of "mandatory education" comes from management.

This for me is just as incredible as the myriad practice errors. It reads like "Thank you all for your support after this bad thing that's happened to me". She previously said "I don't know when I'll be able to work again."

Several of us have expressed doubts about ever having the confidence to practice again after such an event. I can't fathom going down the road and promptly getting a job in another ICU.

I'm sure I've mentioned before having to assess jail inmates for thoughts of self harm after being charged with heinous crimes. Two separate individuals, each of whom had recklessly ended a life, both told me "I just want this over with so I can go home." I was shocked at their inability to appreciate the magnitude of what they had done. I'm experiencing that same chilling shock in this situation, too.

For those who don't think she should be charged: everything we've read so far is damning indeed. No innocent person should have this hanging over their head forever. At this point RV deserves her day in court. If there are mitigators or if we have it totally wrong, this needs to be made known to us publicly. I'll be the first to reverse my viewpoint if there is exculpatory evidence.

I would have more respect for RV if she just admitted she made a catastrophic error by taking shortcuts and using herself as an example of what NOT to do. I honestly haven't read anything from her that demonstrates that she is more than "simply sorry" but I also can understand to some degree her attorney's have probably limited what she can say.

I am more ticked at the BON for taking no action on her. I honestly believe that someone at Vanderbilt--an institution that would without a doubt, have enough influence over the process, may have orchestrated (my opinion...I have zero evidence to back this up) her being cleared of any wrongdoing so that it would somehow reduce Vanderbilt's liability.

I still don't believe she was a safe nurse who experienced a cosmic convergence of everything bad happening in that one instance. I am so curious as to whether her immediate coworkers ever expressed any concerns. The fact that Vanderbilt had someone like this on the payroll, didn't report her to the BON, didn't report the sentinel event to CMS suggests a whole lot of sweeping under the rug.

We will probably never know the whole story.

And the fact that Vanderbilt removes the wrong kidney and they killed someone while putting in a central line and and and...

So you can pick them apart??? Forget it!

No. I just want the full picture. Nobody else has seen what you’re saying is out there. I would like to see what she has to say as would many other people. If you won’t provide them then there is little credibility to your statement and we will have to just go by what we have seen. Counterproductive to what you are trying to achieve don’t you think?

?? Nobody else.. did you poll the audience?

Seriously... I don’t need to provide them for credibility. That is so childish.

Hardly. When someone makes a statement and purports it to be fact the onus is on them to provide supporting evidence. I politely asked you to do so. There is nothing childish about that.

All I've seen are some newspaper articles, (which I take with a grain of salt), the CMS report (which is mind-blowing) and the GoFundMe appeals (which don't inspire sympathy). If there is something else out there that sheds light on this, many of us would love to see it.

Otherwise, as I've said before, if there is exculpatory evidence that casts her in a better light, we'll have to wait for it to come out in court.

Who has, what? I'm not following. What is j do? By the way, I don't know that anyone hates her. None of us actually knows her. Our opinions are about her practice, not her personally.
