Published

Hello everyone, I am applying to 4 different programs in Fall 2019. Does anyone here in the same boat with me? Lets get to know each other and share your experience. Good luck to all of you.

There are only 25 ACEN accredited -AA- programs in California. This is low compared to how many AA/2 yr programs there actually are.

Is anyone concerned about going to non-ACEN accredited school?

I know Cal State LA is accredited for their BSN program but doesn’t it mostly matter where we earn our RN from?

Just thinking out loud.

Thoughts?

Many people have been accepted to, graduated from, and have successful careers from these schools that you say are not accredited. They are approved by the BRN and that seems to be what matters.

Oh I know...I just read stories about people not being able to work at the VA and certain hospitals etc. due to this...so was just curious if anyone else was concerned. ✌?

ACEN accreditation is voluntary. The important thing is being accredited by the state, in this case California. And that is the BRN.

Just curious...does anyone know where the LAVC clinicals are?

From what they told me when I picked up the acceptance packet, there will be about 5 or so options of hospitals that we will have an opportunity to choose from on orientation day. We will pick out numbers to choose which hospital we want to do clinicals at, and about 8 students are assigned per hospital. So some students will get their first choice if they pick a low number, and so on.

But I asked my friend that went to Valley for nursing several years ago and she said back then the options were: Valley Presb., Sherman Oaks, Kaiser, UCLA, Veterans Hospital. For mental health, it was like County or Gateways... Don't quote me, that's just what I heard...

Has anyone else gotten word of acceptance? I'm looking forward to meeting all of you that got accepted!!... And sending lots of positive vibes & energy to those in the process!

I received my status update from Pierce and have been invited to send in my TEAS score or to take the TEAS at Pierce.

Fortunately, I have taken the TEAS and my score is higher than the cutoff, so now it’s time to wait for the lottery. Good luck, everyone!

Looks like they send TEAS invite in waves?
