I have been out of nursing for a long time. Now I am probably getting a job working with mentally challenged individuals. My uniform will be street clothes with a lab jacket. Question: do RN's still wear their school pins? I used to put mine on my lab coat.

Some do, some don't.

I'm not sure where mine is! I wouldn't wear it though ... kids have a way of attracting sharp corners, and I'd be afraid of one of them pulling it off and poking themselves.

congratulations on your return to nursing!
i put my pin through the wash a few times back when it was new and i was proud of it -- i don't wear it anymore. i think it's in the bottom of my jewelry box, but wouldn't swear to it. i rarely see anyone else wearing a pin, either!

I see a lot of nurses that do not do bed side care wearing theirs at my hospital. I wore mine when I first started working on my name badge, but I lost it just one month after I started. Someone did end up finding it, but I'm too afraid to put it back on... that sucker means a lot to me!

I'm a new nurse (6 mos in) and I proudly wear mine attached to my badge. I have it rigged up to the badge holder. I'm the type that would wash it, so the badge holder was the best place for me!

Mine was stolen about '78 when precious metals were being recycled for money.. I did find a replacement at a local pawn shop but it was't 10Kt only gold plated. But I never wore it anyway. ou can get some cute RN pins from almost any uniform store or even online. No one will notice if you don't wear one. Most dont.
