Okay, so last night I was charge and had 2 patients. One was chronic renal who was lucid but kept getting out of bed. Wanting to sit in a chair for 20 min, then get back in bed, then back in the chair, etc. Found him naked several times wandering around his room when the bed alarm went off. My other patient had CLL and was profoundly pancytopenic. I was giving him blood and platelets all night (the lab only ordered some of the products so we conveniently had to wait for the rest).
The renal patient's alarm went off and he was in v-tach. Fairly stable and he converted back to a-fib in about 3 mintues, long enough to draw labs, ekg, page the intensivist, etc. Another post-heart patient was having an MI at the same time so when the doc got up there I told him about what happened and he just said
"Is he okay now?"
I said, "yeah".
That was the end of it. He never even charted on it or talked to me or the patient.
So by now it's 3:30 and I had to go to the bathroom. When I pulled my scrubs down, my boxers stuck to my butt and it hurt. I yanked em down and found a bunch of gum that one of my kids must have left in the wash. It was so bad that I had to get the shaver from the OR and cut the gum & hair off a big patch on my left butt cheek ( I hope this isn't TMI but hey...it's true). When I got out of the bathroom, one of my co-workers met me and said "do you have a minute to help me?" the look on my face must have been bad because she backed away and said something about me being ok. I told her exactly what had just happened and she busted out laughing. Said something about no one could make that **** up.
So I guess the morale of the story is: it always really CAN get worse.
Hope you guys have a great day.

Thank you for that. If it makes you feel better... I was in such a hurry to get in and out of the BR that I pulled down my scrub bottoms and thought underwear went down with them...they did not:rolleyes:

I have that problem too... not the hairy butt, but kids leaving stuff in their pockets for laundry... especially chap sticks, which melt and leave huge oily stains, usually on the back of scrub tops and pants so you don't notice in your hurry to get dressed in time for work.
