Lansing Community College 2016 role call

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi all. I am applying to the Nursing program at LCC traditional 2 year track for 2016. I am anxious and wanted to converse with others in the same boat.

Hi I'm amber. I'm applying for the accelerated track as well as the traditional two year track. I just met with Judy today to do my final advising session and she made me nervous about their new point calculations.

Hi Amber, I'm Charlette....That is a bummer I meet with her next week and I am sure I will be feeling the same way. I am retaking a class this Spring do to being so nervous about the points system I really wish I had aced those classes when I had the chance

Good luck. I just passed the halfway point, about to start Peds and take the LPN exam. It has gone by pretty fast.

My gpa isn't bad, but I feel like it could be better. I have a 3.61 and the only pre-req I have left is pharmacology, which I'm taking this semester. One thing hurting me is I'm not getting the extra 5 points for living in district because I have only lived in district for 5 months. That's why ------------------- worried me a little. I'm on the border for their predicted points you should have. I have 92 points for the advanced track and 132 points for the traditional track. She said the only way to increase my chances is to get a 4.0 in pharmacology. So stressful!

3.61 is great, right?? That is stressful to hear that a 3.61 is not too competitive. I just took Pharm and got a 3.5 my ending grade was a 90.82 so depressing. I took the class online and took it while taking Intro to Soc. Which was more demanding than I had hoped. My advice would be to read/read/read and take advantage of the supplemental instructor for I did not. Good luck to you I had to push my appointment toward the end of month so I am unsure of points and GPA because of transfered courses. I'm retaking Psy 205 because it transfered in at lesser points totally stressed out

March 1st has come and gone....I am so hoping that they have enough seats for all who applied. I know that is wishful thinking, but that is all I have at this point. So far I'll have 128 points at the end of this semester and was told the cut off should be 130 points. Talk about depressing. I have completed all prerequisites and have my CNA certification. Unfortunately, however, my nursing transcript has more Bs than As. So to become more competitive if I don't make it this year I have to retake those 3.0 and 3.5 and aim for 4.0. But that's the way of the game it seems. I'm just sharing my experience with this whole process. I have my heart set on LCC and have been working towards it since "09". I am dragging my feet about applying to other programs....I've missed JCCs deadline does anyone know about Bakers?? There website is pretty vague. Well anyway, come on end of May I'm dieing to know the verdict.

Don't get too discouraged about the points. There are ALWAYS people who don't accept their seats and they end up going pretty far down the list to fill them all. The year I got in, I had 140 points and they had said you needed 142 to be "competitive". Even though I had a 4.0 GPA, I was lacking volunteer hours to give me the extra points. Any way, it ended up they went as far down as 136 points on the list, so I got in. This was back in 2013. I know the point system has changed, so the points are lower now.

Best of luck to you all! The hardest part is waiting for that letter to arrive. Time drags on so slowly and you feel like you're stalking the mailman...LOL :p Hope you all get good news :D

Thanks so much SopranoKris I have been stalking previous LCC role call posts to see how this whole process works. Your posts have helped me with some anxiety that I have experienced and you have once again given me hope. I gladly appreciate this information you have no idea. :))) They said we would find out June 1st....I don't know how I'll ever make it until then.

You are very welcome! I remember all too well the anxiety of waiting for that acceptance letter. It felt like time dragged on SO slowly! Hope you get good news in June :D

Are you doing any courses, like phlebotomy or CNA to prepare to nursing school while you wait for your letter?

Thank you, yes I am a CNA and have worked in a nursing home and home Healthcare settings. I am currently a homemaker and have been at home for the last 2 1/2 years with my triplets. My mom is moving in this summer to help me with the girls so that I can finish school, so for now I'm just spending all of my time with them while I wait for that letter in the mail

Hi, my name is Krystal and I applied for the traditional two year track with the hopes of acceptance to the January start date! I have 146 points and I am praying that will be enough!
