Lansing Community College, 2012 applicant role call!

U.S.A. Michigan

I know there are some other LCC people out here somewhere! Anyone applying for 2012 admission?

I just applied for 2 year, 3 year and 2nd Degree programs today. Cast a wide net and see what you catch theory there!

I am estimating my point totals for 2 year and 3 year at 68-69 and 2nd Degree at 58-59.

Good luck to everyone who has worked so hard to get this far! May we all keep our sanity while we wait on letters...

Congrats to all who made it in for the accelerated program! I just started my pre-reqs this summer, so I won't be able to apply until 2014, but I am worried I won't be able to get enough points! If the cut-off was 109 this year, I can't even imagine what it will be in 2014. If I get a 4.0, plus manage to do 400+ hrs volunteer work, plus take the Phlebotomy courses (CHSE 143 & CHSE 144), I will have 112 points. Unfortunately I don't have any work experience. So 112 is the highest possible I'll be able to get. This may be a stupid question, but what type of volunteer work counts for points? Does it have to be in the health care field? What has everyone else done for volunteer points? Thanks for your help!

No the volunteer hours don't need to be healthcare related. I volunteered at the library, ambulance ride alongs, in a cancer clinic doing secretary work, just try to find someone who has a business card cus you'll need to attach it to the paper that lists the info on volunteering.

You can get a job easily in a adult foster care home. As long as you have CPR and a completed background check you'll get in. That's one of my favorite places to work... better than a nursing agency.

I am a full time cheer coach and since it is a "volunteer" position I was able to use all my hours! Med Surg clinicals are either at Sparrow or Ingham. Peds is at Childrens (Detroit) or Mott (Ann Arbor) and Psych is at St. Lawrence (Lansing) or the state prison (Ionia).

Hello Ladies:

First off, congratulations to you all, by now most of you have completed the program. I am a nursing student at LCC, and I will be applying to the accelerated program during the Spring 2014. As I was reading your comments, I noticed that there were some mixed feeling and hesitation about the intensity of the 2nd degree program.

I was hoping to get some feed -back form you all as previous students, as to how the fast pace went for you. Would you recommend the accelerated program or not?

Thank you in advance.
