Just wondering if anyone else applied to the Langara Nursing program for the Fall 2022 intake? If so what GPA did you apply with? I'm super demotivated and don't have much hope of getting in since I've heard the fall intake is much more competitive. Let's all help each other out! ?

Thanks!

Hello all,

I am applying with 3.6. Finger crossed we all get in. My CGPA is low but I am still hopeful.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply!! I totally get it, I'm not a huge fan of math either tbh. You mentioned how in the course, you build on what you learned in a first year PSYC course, so does that mean you took PSYC 1215/1115? If so, do you think I'd be able to take it straight from high school math with (hopefully) little to no difficulty? My registration's tomorrow so I'm still trying to figure out if I'll take the math course next semester or later loll

Thanks:))

Hey,

You need to take PSYCH 1115 and 1215 as a prereq for the PSYCH 2321 course, I don’t think you can take 2321 without doing them first! Honestly, I found PSYC 1215/1115 to be easy classes with almost no math involved, except for learning about mode/mean/median. These two classes are more involved with behaviour, personality, thinking, memory, consciousness, learning, and more. It’s just the PSYCH 2321 course which is heavy on the math ? Hopefully I answered your question, feel free to ask away!

Hiya,

Right that makes sense, I should've looked at if there was a prerequisite for that first LOL. I appreciate the help and thanks for responding fairly quickly :))

Good luck in your future endeavors!

Hello guys,

I can’t decide whether I should retake my English course to bump up my GPA. I am so worried that I get a lower grade, and lower my current GPA. My current GPA is 3.6. Any thoughts would be appreciated? Where do you guys suggest I should take it ? Should I take it ?

Hi all. Did any of you retake courses? I retook 2 courses. My GPA is 3.8, but I’m not sure if they’ll prioritize my application over someone who hasn’t retaken a course.

Hi, I could be wrong but I don't think they look at how many times you took the course. I believe they just look at the page that you have on your Langara portal that contains your admission stuff. It doesn't mention anything regarding how many time you took a course.

Hey there,

I am in the same boat as you and was debating to retake English to bump up my GPA. However, I haven't bothered to retake it since they look at the most recent attempt & not the highest grade. You can take the equivalents at Douglas/Langara/VCC if you choose to redo them.

Personally, this is what I would do:

- Wait for the decisions for this intake to come out around April.

- I would apply for the Spring 2023 intake in the upcoming Feb since Spring is less competitive. If you end up taking English during the January semester, you should meet the application/documentation deadline for the Spring 2023 semester. Once again, if you get a lower mark your GPA will be affected.

Although, I do think a 3.6 and higher is generally a safe average. It is totally up to you what you decide! Hopefully, this helped?

Do you guys think the GPA average for this intake will go down?

That makes sense. I will wait for the decision. Thank you for responding. ☺️☺️

I hope it does. The GPA average was crazy last year. I heard 3.6 did not get off the wait list for the fall 2021.  It should be because of online classes but this fall and this coming Spring classes are online so it might bring the average lower I guess. I really hope it goes down a bit.

I am applying with 3.8. what are the chances 3.8s would get in when the competitive average GPA is going up every semester?

hey guys,

I’ll be applying with a 3.602 and I’m not feeling very hopeful of getting in this intake since I did retake courses and I still have a low cGPA. ??
