Langara Fall 2016!

Published

I know it's a bit early, just wondering if anyone else has applied for the Fall 2016 term? My application was completed at the beginning of this month, fingers crossed.

I finished my application last month with a 3.6 GPA. it's my second time applying (I applied for jan 2016 and got wait listed). Fingers crossed everybody good luck!!

What GPA were you wait listed with if you don't mind me asking?

I just got an offer without having a bachelor's degree!

My GPA for the 5 courses (which I took at Langara) was 4.1. I haven't gotten the email, but my application status was updated with the offer.

@Kayyyy 2.9 lol

I just got my acceptance email. My GPA was 3.8. I'm not going to wait for BCIT to get back to me (Langara requires an answer within 2 weeks anyways). I hope you guys get yours soon too!

I would personally go for BCIT> Langara. They are very well known. Clinicals begin the second week of classes. You get a lot of hands on work and some of my friends go there, saying that although it is challenging at times, they really get the muscle memory/theory down because of all the clinical work they do instead of memorization for exams.

With the two electives being included in the GPA, were those the two classes that really raised it? With the new requirements having an extra English and the other part of Bio its going to be so much harder to have as high GPAs as I am reading here!

Thanks for the advice fifi06! :)

Regardless of teaching methods, they both prepare you for the RN exam and Langara is a good, recognized institution. Clinical starts early there as well. For me, Langara is in a much better location and after years of hearing stories from friends in both schools, I decided that the differences weren't great enough to choose BCIT over Langara. I hear good things about both :)

Hi Hamster84,

I'm leaning towards BCIT because of the ability to specialize. But having said that, I still haven't made my decision yet!

I've heard BCIT is better suited if you are interested in working in ICU or Emergency. But that's not 100%, and both schools are great. Congratulations, either way :)

Mphan1 have you found any place to do the CPR-HCP yet?

I know this wasn't directed to me but I thought I'd help. I did mine through life preservers and it was awesome, they offer so many dates to do the course and the instructor was awesome!

I was thinking of doing mine with St John Ambulance. Also, @Beexo did you do HCP or just do the Level C with AED?
