Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.
Thanks!
Hey everyone, I graduated from the Tulane program May 2011. I take my NCLEX Monday. I loved reading this site to find out all the scoops on the program before I started. Watch out, there is a lot of negative stuff on the program on here. If you go into the program with "Nursing school is the devil" attitude, you will do just fine. It will be hard. The people who had a hard time were the ones that came into the program having such high expectations for everything: the teachers, Tulane, the school in general, were the ones who were writing the dean, president and who ever else would listen to their complaints of not passing the test or complaining about instructors. Just be cool, study, and stay out of classroom drama.. You will do just fine. :)
Hi Everyone!
I have read all 58 pages of this post and I finally decided to post. I am in the process of applying for the January 2012 class at Tulane. I just had a couple questions for the ladies who have already completed the process.
1.) I took Gen. Chemistry in Fall 2001 so do you guys think I will have to repeat this course?
2.) Does anyone know if they consider both grades for repeated courses?
3.) I was an average student in college. Mostly B's but I do have some A's and C's as well so do you guys think I even stand a chance getting in?
4.) Last question, I am planning to take nutrition and the 2nd psychology course at Bossier Parish Community College. Has anyone taken those classes there? How was it?
Anyhow, Congratulations to all of you ladies who have already been accepted and GOOD LUCK!
Welcome! I was told that they do factor in repeat courses when I called. I don't think you will have to repeat chemistry, but to be sure call them. I found them most helpful, especially via email. As far the GPA goes, I had mostly Bs, and an A here and there, I didn't have Cs in the classes they looked at, I know that some pages back on this forum we all got into a discussion on GPA, I can't remember which page it is, but it may help answer some of your questions.
Good luck to you!

Ok, thanks! After reading so many posts I probably got delirious and over looked the discussion about GPA...

That's a great idea, and just like the current students said "stick together and help each other out". B/c we all entered the program for the same reason and that is to become a Registered Nurse.
I believe if we stick together and seriously help each other out we will be successful in the program.
Im attending a wedding on Aug.20th that's the Saturday before we start school. I guess the closer we get to the 1st day of class, we will have something planned.
