Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! New to this site, but it's slowly saving my sanity :)

I will also be joining the Fall 2011 East Jeff Accelerated class!! I spoke with some of the people at the EJ Campus today, confirmed the August 22 start date, and even our projected graduation date as June 20, 2012! So excited, but these forms and vaccinations and so forth are causing major headaches.

I'm without insurance, any of ya'll know of affordable places to go to for the vaccinations/physical exam/blood titers?

Congrats to everyone, let's make sure this program goes out with a bang!

Hi jess525 I will be at East Jeff as well. I know what you mean about all the paperwork. I think your cheapest bet for vaccinations and titers would definitely be your local health clinic. I mistakenly went to this walk-in clinic attached to the hospital where I work and did not realize that they did not accept insurance. They said everything was gonna cost close to $300 bucks including the physical. They said the best bet would be a health clinic (for those without insurance); it should cost about $5 per shot... Im not sure about the physical. I ended up getting all of mine done through my general practitioner for the cost of my copay (i do have insurance).

Hi everyone. I will be at the East Jeff location as well. I am excited to start. I also share the same experiences with you all about the LSBN forms and the Health forms. I'm so ready to start the program and finish it with a bang. I was just thinking that around this time next year we will all be REGISTERED NURSES. Now that's a blessing!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the site, wow June 20, 2012 awesome!

I have not started the ppw yet, but I have everything but the chicken pox vaccine, so I should be ok. I'm more worried about pharm, I'm in nutrition & religion course, I have been so preoccupied with life, my mind hasn't really been on the program, which is good since I was so obsessed before, but now I need to refocus!

I think I will look into renting this week as well!

See you all on the 13th, we should all wear a certain color so we all know who each other are, just joking!

One more thing, I just got the letter in the mail about tuition and our schedule, I'm a little confused, do we need to set up the payment plan by Aug 1st or Aug 19th, I think that we can do installments. Can anyone explain a little more, I logged in like they said on the instructions but it didn't have an amount in there once I logged in, totally confused!

Oh wow, I havent even seen that letter yet. I moved, so my forwarded mail is taking a bit longer. By the way, we (my wife and I) are renting a house in Metairie pretty close to EJGH. She got a job at Oschner and starts monday. I have all my LSBN stuff and Health forms done. Its nice to have everything finally taken care of and to see it all fall into place. I guess now I just have to worry about tuition :-/

Was there anything on that letter about student loans?

Oh I thought I was late with this letter, I have been out of town for the last few weeks, so I'm behind on everything. It had a link to check on the financial aid website, but nothing dealing with loans.

Congrats on your home, I will be looking very soon, I made an appointment for the physical next week and to get my varicella shot. My finger prints are already done.

Yeah the tuition is a little overwhelming, but where there is a will there's a way & God!

Yeah, you mentioned financial aid... I was curious about the federal loans through financial aid... I dont think we can get pell grants since we already have bachelors degrees.

I agree, so its probably gone have to be loans, again I'm confused, not sure what it was saying to be honest.

Hey ya'll, as far the tuition goes, I'm going to make a call tomorrow to see whether it's due on the 1st of August or not, because the letter we received confused me as well. I'll be sure to get on here and let everyone know ASAP!

Also, for any of you who are residents of Jefferson or Orleans parishes, there is a program called WIA through the Louisiana Workforce Commission that you can apply for, it pays somewhere around $6000 toward your tuition!

If you have any questions or need info for WIA, feel free to ask on here or shoot me an email to [email protected]

AUGUST 22nd IS SO CLOSE!! AH!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got confused.

do you have to be a resident of those parishes to qualify?

HI jess525 I live in Orleans Parish and I would like to know more information about WIA and the requirements needed to qualify?
