Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Ah yes, I know all about student and private loans haha, I had to take them out when I was at Loyola. Hopefully I'll hear back soon with a reply letter about the Financial Aid I'm eligible for, at this point I just want to know that I have a way to pay for school. Once we start in August, we can relax about the little things!

I still haven't been able to reach anyone about the exact date for when tuition is due, seems like everyone is out of the office when I call. If anyone finds out, let us know!

Has anyone else been down to the EJGH North building to look around? I went last week to drop off my LSBN packet, and all of the classrooms/conference rooms/labs are spread out on the first floor. TWO WEEKS!!

Ooo loyola, so you are used to these outrageous tuition prices! Luckily i have not had to take out a loan until now. I am so ready to get in class and forget about this whole process and the paperwork!

I filled out my FAFSA so that's how I was eligible for a Unsub Loan. Since I already have a Bachelor's Degree, I used most of my loan money up. I thought since we already have degree's our loan availability would start over. I talked to my Financial Aid counselor today and she told me that the amount on my award letter was all I had left available.

I received my award letter on 6-21-11.

I really didn't want to take out a private loan. I know next semester I will have to take out a private loan because the WIA program only gives money for 1 semester.

I hope and pray that I pass this test for the WIA program so I can receive up to $6,000 toward my tuition.

I went to EJGH to drop off my LSBN papers yesterday but I didn't get to see too much of the classrooms. I am so excited and ready to start.

jess525- How did the WIA program go for you?

Yes, considering tuition for 4 years at Loyola was ridiculous even with my scholarship money, I'm looking at this amount as no big deal. Loans can be worked out in payment plans, and so forth, so don't stress out over having to take them out.

Ash, I went in today for a follow up meeting and had it confirmed that I do not qualify for WIA because of the fact that I have a part time job. Sigh. I think it's unfair that there aren't many options for us out there as far as funding for school, but like I said I've dealt with school loans in the past and now I just want to make sure my tuition is taken care of!

Does anyone know if EJGH supports student nurse tech jobs? A friend of mine recently graduated nursing school and informed me that if we can hold even the smallest Tech job while we're in school we have a greater chance of being offered a job once we're done next year. I emailed someone about this at the school, but the said they didn't know anything sooooo, I'm on the hunt to find out any information I can!!

I guess I need to get started with applying for loans, this summer has been so hectic for me but a very enjoyable one so far!

I have not even been to East Jeff yet, the first time will probably be on the 13th.

I am so ready to get this show on the road...June 20, 2012 BABY!!!

I'm excited to start school and see everyone in person. I'm so glad I found out about this blog it has been very helpful. The only options available for us are more LOANS. But loans are a minor issue, I'm so happy we all got in the program.

I can't wait to see everyone on July 13, 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed, we have went thru this together, its such a blessing to be able to have a place where we all can connect!

We have to all promise to stay connected once school starts, we started this together lets finish together!

So I have everything done paperwork-wise except for the seasonal flu shot. I tried to get it this morning, but the hospital where I work is not carrying this vaccine. They consider flu season to be from October-May. Has a seasonal flu vaccine even been made for the upcoming flu season? Is anyone else having a problem with this? Where did you get your flu vaccine and how much was it? (I have health insurance)

My hospital where I work as well is not offerring it as well, I hope they understand

Ok so I feel like an idiot, I just pulled out my packet and realized the due date is this Friday. I for some reason was thinking I could just turn it in at orientation, so I didn't worry about it...oops, LOL! But quick question, the green paper & the fingerprints, do we turn them in to the school or send it to the state board?

turn them into the school

Is it just the green forms and fingerprints, or everything? I see multiple dates on here.
