Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

Just did a little digging and found another forum. Last year, one person posted on March 10 that she had got accepted to the OLOL Baton Rouge Accelerated program. Maybe there is hope we can find out soon!

which form did you look at ? I hope it is march 10th, that will mean we only have a couple weeks to wait! I am very anxiously waiting!

I really wish I could remember. I was googling a bunch of things about when OLOL usually mails out acceptance letters and ended up finding that forum. I really hope we get our letters soon!

yes it is killing me it's like my life is on hold

I also applied to OLOL in Baton Rouge. It is so hard to wait. When I called they said "at least not until March." Will you guys let us know if you get a letter. Thanks

Welcome to the thread and thank you for the update lynn23! I would love to hear something in March! I am so glad we have this forum to keep us up to date, so we can remain optimistic about the long wait. We are in this together!

I get on facebook and see a new status update everyday about another of my friends being accepted into their school of choice for nursing, PT, pharmacy, med school, etc! It makes me so much more anxious!

hey lynn23, hopefully we'll be in school together!!

We're buying a house, have a 16 month old, and want another so I NEED to get into OLOL this fall lol. I already told my husband, any letter that comes in the mail from OLOL, he must open it before even walking in the door. That way he can break the news and I can pretend I'm okay with it if I don't get in lol.

I really hope we get letters in March. I can't wait until April, I just can't!

Anyone going to OLOL Baton Rouge open house tomorrow?

I'm not going to the open house but let us know if you get any information. Is anyone else nervous after reading some of the post about this program?

I will not be attending the open house either... and there are a few previous posts that make me slightly nervous, especially the posts about how many the classes start with in comparison to how many finish... In one post I read a class started with 30 and ended with 15-17 participants. I just cant understand how so many people fail out considering this very selective application process filled with applicants with previous degrees. I think you just have to look at it like, if someone else can do it, then I KNOW I can do it. The pharmacology stuff seems to be the worst part. If I do get in, I will be sure to better familiarize myself with this (ahead of time) by reading the text and trying to get notes from previous semesters.

I am very nervous, but now I know what I need to do to prepare for it. Once I get in, I'm going to start studying lol. I know it's going to be very stressful since they are cramming so much material into 10 months, but I'm ready!! I think we're all going to do great!!

The only reason I'm going tomorrow is to see if I can talk to an advisor about scheduling my classes for the summer. I'll let you know what I find out about nursing school!

Hey everyone!

Open House was good and I go some information for all of us. I talked to the lady in Admissions and she actually remembered processing my request for the summer and my ASN application. And she just gave me a look! And when I asked her about it, she said she couldn't give out any information. She did tell me that we should get our letters in about 2 weeks! So, now we sit and wait and be nervous for 2 weeks!!!!!

I am so nervous! Good luck everyone!
