Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Hey CuriousKayPee: I put Tulane campus as my first choice, mainly bc it starts earlier. I also checked that I wanted to be considered for the other 2 campuses as well. Also, I found another forum that mentioned an applicant being put on the waiting list and she was able to find out what number she was on the list. She was number 10 for the BR accelerated program and she ended up getting in.

I also read another forum that I am unable to locate that says you can call if you get waitlisted and they will give you your number on the list.

Wow that's good to know!

I hope we all get in!

I doubt there is anyone out there that wants it any worse than us! We took the time to find this forum and I know we all check it religiously! Part of me is glad I have a desk job, so I can check for updates whenever, but it is driving me crazy!! :throcomp:

Lol! I know the feeling, my email is sync to my phone. I say that when we find out, we all take shots for everyone of us on this forum, I'm not even a drinker but once the letter come no matter what is says I'm drinking!

When I got on the waiting list at Baton Rouge General, they send an email and a letter stating what number I was on the waiting list, so hopefully, it's the same with OLOL.

I really don't see how I'm going to make 2 weeks and what if it ends up being longer?! I agree with the shots! I hardly drink, but I've already told my husband that I'll be drinking an entire bottle of wine in one night if I don't get in lol.

Lets just keep hoping/praying that we all get in to the schools of our choice!!

If I open an acceptance letter... *wine

If we all get in, then I might just have a parade!! :clpty:

BTW If you can't tell, I found the emoticons

If I get in, I'm going to post using every one of those emoticons!

I love the smiley faces! I can't wait to get the letter in the mail.

Okay, I've lost count. How many people on here applied to OLOL as their first choice? I'm going to be out of town all next week. It is going to kill me if y'all get your letters and I can't check my mail! I really don't have a lot of faith that I'm going to get in. I still have two classes to take so I know that is not going to help me.

OLOL is the only school I applied to, so yeah, it's my first choice. I am taking two prerequisites right now (religion and nutrition). Both classes are pretty much a waste of money if I don't get in. If I don't get in, I will apply to other schools, none of them require these two classes. I am sure I will make As in both of these classes, but it would only bump up my prereq GPA from a 3.46 to a 3.55. I hope that would not be the difference needed for me to get in. I would hope that they look a little more at the other stuff on my application.

The mail usually runs at my house while I'm at work, so my fiancé will probably get to it before me...

Did y'all do the 3 reference forms? I did, but then I saw where someone on here said we didn't have to.

Yes this is the only school I applied to, because of it being accelerated, there are others here in my state but there deadline isn't until Sept and its a two year program.

I'm taking some of my prerequisites now, I was told as long as we have them completed by the start date then its ok. I didn't do the reference letters because when I called and ask about them they said I don't have to do it, I hope that doesn't hurt me.

Do you think all campuses will send letters at the same time?

I'm not really sure how that works... I do know that the tulane campus used require applications to be turned in in January, while the other two used to be due in march... I don't know if this is the first year they are doing it like this or not. Back then the tulane letters appeared to come back earlier (read it in older forums)
