LAC+USC interview new grad RN

U.S.A. California

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

Thanks. I will do that.

Hi guys, I got a call to come in for interview this week for med/surg position.

I didn't receive the 'pass/fail' letter but received the letter that I need to reapply.

I'm already nervous for this interview...is the second interview going to be like same as the first one?

I finally got my eligibility letter about a week and a half ago (results from January) and ... just my luck, not one of the hospitals is hiring. I hope an opportunity presents itself soon.

Wow you got a letter. I am glad for you. Even though there is no opening.

I contacted my interviewer and was told to reapply. :(

Hi guys I just got my letter for to schedule for my civil exam for a registered nurse I position. I'm I'm a delimma because I've already accepted a job offer from another hospital but I also want to work for LA County. My question is for those of you who got hired, how long did the whole process take and what is the starting pay rate for this position? And also, do you get to choose which unit an which schedule whether part time or full time you'd like to work for?

Hi CoCStudentNurse,

Can you tell me what day you had your January interview? I'm wondering because I had my RN I exam interview February 2......it would at least give me a bit of an idea as to when I'll be receiving my eligibility letter. I'm getting tired of stalking my mailbox and being let down every time I check it :uhoh3:.

Thanks so much, and good luck! I'm sure positions will be opening soon. It's such a large hospital....they have to keep it staffed somehow!

I had my interview on January 31st and just got my letter on May 17th. And it's not just LAC + USC that is not hiring, it's all the hospitals in the county system. They are all not offering any positions for new grads and don't know when they will be. Good luck to you, too!

Hi CoCStudentNurse, did they mention how much the starting pay rate is?

Nope. They do not tell you that until you are offered a job. I just had a civil interview and am waiting to be contacted for an interview with a nursing manager.

CoCStudentNurse: oh i see. I had a question regarding the civil service exam for RN I. Do we need to study lab values, meds, intervention and diseases again? Like do they give I clinical scenarios where you have to give them your implementation? Or is it just general questions like telling them about yourself and your goals, strength/weakness, why you want to work there and etc?

Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the questions they ask. They had me sign a confidentiality waiver and won't hire me if they hear I broke it.

Thanks for the info. Wow.....I wonder why I haven't gotten a letter yet. So frustrating. My second question is this, do you remember what day you reapplied online? It seems as if the wait time for the certification letter was started over for everyone because of it. I'm frustrated too because I have been an RN for over 8 years, but since I am a non-employee, I have to run around in circles just as much. I'll probably give them a call tomorrow to see what's going on. They're probably sick of me. Oh well! :banghead:

Have you thought about or reapplied anywhere else?
