The letter says to allow at least an hour. I think mine took about 45 minutes
The interview is about an hour. It's with a nurse recruiter, and it's great practice because they ask you several questions that made me realize I wasn't ready with answers. Google nursing interviews and know your examples of situtaions. While I was there, several people had called in from this eligibility list and it sounded like they were currently only hiring for the ICU.
Thank you both for sharing your experiences, I had a few clinicals at Harbor and would love to work at a county hospital, but it has been hard to find information on the process. Did you both apply to Registered Nurse 1 positions? At your interview, did you specify which area you want to work in? I am curious if the eligibility lists are area specific like: "all eligible registred nurse 1's for ICU"? Once you receive your letters saying you passed the interview, do you just wait for their call or do you call as well? Again, thanks for sharing. I applied this week and I am happy to continue posting here so we can track each other's progress.

I know from an internal source that they got approved to hire 100 ICU and NICU nurses...I think you interview to get on a general list then get re-interviewed when someone (a facility) picks you off that list? That is my understanding.
Really?!? I hope so! To work in NICU is my dream! I'm not a new grad, I've worked in M/S but would love to try something new.

I applied to the Registered Nurse 1 position. I didn't specify where I wanted to work, and they didn't ask. The eligibility list, from what I understand, is just "all Registered Nurse 1's." It takes 4-6 weeks to get your letter after the interview. The recruiter I interviewed with says that I have to call around to the different county hospitals and ask if they have any RN1 positions open and they'll schedule an interview then. From what I understood, they don't call you to address open positions...it's up to you to contact them.
Good luck! I hope it goes well for you :)
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Has anyone received their post-interview letters and been able to interview for a specific spot? I have an interview with county (at Harbor) in September. I hope they are still hiring new grads by the time I interview!
I have not received my letter yet, but will update when I do. Good luck to us all!

Hi all I just saw this thread and wanted to share my story with the county, I did my service exam at Harbor-UCLA on July 13 and received the official notice I passed on the 19th. Then about a month later LAC-USC called me to interview for med/surg on the 22nd of this month and today I got the offer!!! the long part of the background check and fingerprinting is starting tomorrow when I go fill out the paperwork so I do not have a start date yet but I am so excited to be working at LAC-USC soon!!
Good luck to everyone else who interviewed and will be interviewing!!!
Wow! Congrats! You got your letter so fast! So they called you for the Med/Surg interview? Will you be working days or nocs? Congrats again!!
Thank you I am soo excited!! Yes they called me for an interview which surprised me actually, I thought I would need to do more of the initial contacting. Most likely working noc but they did not know which unit specifically yet those will be determined when my background clears
