Hi,
I am starting an RN program in Feb. And I really really want to be a labor and delivery nurse. Does anyone know of anything I can do in the mean time to better my chances of getting hired as one out of school.

Hi, I am not interested in becoming a L&D nurse but I am the same way. I tend to look several steps ahead even though I have not completed step one. For instance I am finishing up my pre-reqs for the RN-BSN bridge program and I have yet to be accepted into an ADN program.
Anyway, here is a forum that might be able to answer your questions. If not, they can probably point you in the right direction. Congrats and have fun in nursing school! :wink2:

Godsend,
The link from MBA2BRN would be good reading. To learn more about labor and delivery, you might also consider some hospital volunteer work in an area related to L&D. Above all though, remember to stay focused so that you do well academically. Also be sure to remain open-minded as you go through school - lots of clinical experiences await you and you are likely to change directions a time or two.
Best of luck to you!
