labeling stethoscopes

Published

Hi everyone!

I just found out today I am admitted to my program starting this May 22. I went straight out and bought a Littman Classic II SE. My little treat to reward all the stress that paid off and to kind of make it all seem real. Well I paid a good amount for this steth and I want to make sure it stays in my possession and doesn't walk away when clinicals begin. Can you get it engraved? If so where? Any other ways of labeling or tagging my newly beloved Littman?

Thanks!!

You can get your name engraved on the metal earpieces, your name embossed on the tubing, and put a name tag on it...but your best bet is NEVER let it leave your sight :)

The danged things grown legs and walk off

Thanks for the advice! If I have already purchased my stethoscope do you know any place that you can send it away to have your name embossed on it? I looked around and most of the places just offer it if you buy theirs. Thanks!

Do you have a store called "things Remembered" in your town? It is usually located in the mall and offers engraving while you wait for a low price. They are popular here in the midwest for wedding gifts: goblets, lighters, necklaces, etc.

Yeah we have a Things Remembered-- I didn't even think of that! Where would you get it engraved? I am very new to the medical field (just got accepted) and I want to make sure I don't damage it with engraving.

Thanks!!

Things Remembered wouldn't engrave my Littman. The Sear's at my mall had an engraver and glass etcher. They engraved it for around $10.

I had my stethoscope engraved at Things Remembered. I think I paid $10-15, which included insurance in case something happened to it. I was very pleased with the results. At Sears they said that they would only engrave jewelry, and then only if I bought it there.

What part of the stethoscope did you have engraved? Thanks!

I bought my steth through Meridys.com They actually make a name plate that they engraved for free. It turned out really nice. It snaps on the steth 3mIDtag.jpg

Thanks for the info! I really like the tag also. If I can't figure out where it is safe to engrave on the scope, I'll look into buying one ( I already havemy Littman so I'll just have to buy the tag) Thanks again!

I'm not in nursing yet, but it seems to me that a name tag would be more obvious to keep people from stealing it. It would be something that would make it stand out a little more.
