Ok that's good to know...I fret only because the gentleman that processed the fingerprint said for me to call HR and schedule the health clearance 5 days from that day. But when I called the school, front desk said she'll email with further instructions once the results are back. Two different instructions so I naturally went into panic mode lol. Ok I just have to be patience. I'll update as soon as I hear something too, this way we have an idea about the wait time, gosh I hope it'll be sooner than 3 weeks. Paperwork are due by Jan 14.

just fyi, had the live scan done on wed, day before Thanksgiving.

If it's pending I'm sure the school will be okay with it. It's not your fault they take long, but who knows. What I can share is my experience with my volunteer process and my nursing student process. Hopefully this will help any of you.

Once you're cleared for live scan HR will call you and email you to inform you about the clearance. You will then make an appointment or just show up at HR and they'll take your picture and give you your badge. After that is when you have five days for the health clearance. I went right after I got my badge (same day) and got vaccinations, TB test, and titers done. They're very flexible whether you have an appointment or not so try to go right after HR. It's just the next building over anyway. Two days later I went back to get my TB skin test checked and my blood work was already done. They gave me my health clearance paper and that's what we take to orientation.

My live scan took three weeks but other volunteers had theirs cleared within as little as a week. There were four of us that did it the same day and everyone got cleared at different weeks. I wouldn't worry about the timeframe because as long as you do your health clearance right away you should be in good shape.

I did my live scan and was cleared within a week. And health clearance is completed also

I am am also waiting for my live scan clearance.. It's going to be 3 weeks tomorrow. I called HR and they said my file is delayed... Whatever that means... Ugh I just hope it gets cleared soon so I can proceed with the Heath clearance, etc. I am so worried because I just rejected all the other three schools that I was also accepted in.....

I just got off the phone with HR and am too "delayed."

Lt330 try not to worry as I hear this is not uncommon. Sometimes the prints are hard to read, they might have us redo it. HR said to call back thurs, so that's what I'll do. Will keep you posted.

By the way, has anyone purchased the textbooks yet? It said to buy them as the semesters go, but I realized they all are needed for the first semester.. lol. also for the fire card and cpr card, are those offered at la county or are we supposed to get those on our own?? >

Just received an email saying I'm cleared for the livescan (did it last Monday). FWIW I've had livescan done years ago so maybe that is what cleared it more quickly.

Hey Lt330, I bought the Fundamentals of Nursing and Med-Surg book on Amazon (paperback). I'm gonna hold off on the pharmacology as I've heard that this book is worth just renting. I ordered the paperback versions as well to save some money.

We need to get a Basic Life Support (BLS) card on our own (classes are ~$40) while I have heard that the fire card is issued after we attend a class at the hospital/school.

I called again and they said it could be because I was not born here. That might be the cause of the delay. Strange. For those that have been cleared, were any of you not born in the US?
