LA county Relief nurse 2013

U.S.A. California

Hello all :) I applied to a relief nurse 1 position with LA county. I then got a letter in the mail sayng my application had been accepted and i was scheduled for the "examination." I took the test, passed the test, and got another letter in the mail about two months after my test saying I had passed and that my name will be placed in an "eligibility list." What now? Does any one know what happens after this process? Thank you all so much! any info is appreciated. I did get a call from Harbor UCLA and filled out some paper work and got scheduled for an interview. But is this test for all LA county nurse jobs? What has your experience been like? I also heard something about a verbal exam/ interview? what is that?

congrats!

im a new grad as well that just recently got hired at harbor adult ER. im happy there :-)... im glad there is hope and new grads are getting hired!

Any updates on health screening yet? I did my fingerprinting on 11/13, so it's been about 1.5 weeks. How long did it take you guys to receive an email about your health screening after fingerprinting?

I did my Live Scan on 9/23 and am still waiting. I called Harbor and central HR weekly and got the same "it takes time, have patience and keep waiting" kind of answer. They told me the paperwork has to be signed by several people before it makes back to Harbor and that's when they email you about the physical.

Also, it looks like OR/ER files have priority since Harbor is opening up the new OR/ER in Feb. So people who are hired by these depts hear back within a month. I got hired by cardiac step down so I'm expecting a longer wait, especially now it's the holiday time. If any of you hear back, please let me know.

I just got the email!!! Check your emails everyone!

Congrats~ SugarNSass

CONGRATS! How long did it take you? I think you were a few weeks ahead of me in this whole process!

It took 7 agonizing weeks, but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on.

I finally got my physical appt~ yay! It took 9 weeks.

ER took me less than a month for everything. I applied the day the position opened up though. If you can handle a fast pace ( can be extremely stressful at times) and want to do trauma, I would say go to ER. I like the rush. The training for ER is only six weeks though, so you should be a fast learner and be able to think during stressful times. You will learn so much though...everyday is something new. This week we are getting trained on the new equiptment for the new ER so by the time any of you get hired, you wont have to worry about learning an old vs. new system as the new one will already be in place.
