Hello all :) I applied to a relief nurse 1 position with LA county. I then got a letter in the mail sayng my application had been accepted and i was scheduled for the "examination." I took the test, passed the test, and got another letter in the mail about two months after my test saying I had passed and that my name will be placed in an "eligibility list." What now? Does any one know what happens after this process? Thank you all so much! any info is appreciated. I did get a call from Harbor UCLA and filled out some paper work and got scheduled for an interview. But is this test for all LA county nurse jobs? What has your experience been like? I also heard something about a verbal exam/ interview? what is that?
I applied on Aug 1 and on Aug 23 received the email that my app was accepted and also the details to take the Written Styles Assessment.[/quote']Thank you for the reply. By the way do you know what the working schedule or a relief nurse is like? Is it like 4 hrs/day? I have a friend who is a relief nurse but at a different hospital not count related and she usually works 4hrs/day to cover the nurses lunch break. Is it the same for county?

When you interview they will give you the details. Every unit is different. I was told some have 8 hrs, some have 12 hr shifts. They told me for a relief nurse to keep their position in the county they have to work 32 hrs a week, meanwhile they try to find ways to get you to become a perm.

Hi esinb86,
thank you for replying.
Wow that's nice to know that a relief nurse can work at least 32hrs per week, I like the sound of that. And I love that they will take care of you wanting to make to a permanent :)
