Hello all :) I applied to a relief nurse 1 position with LA county. I then got a letter in the mail sayng my application had been accepted and i was scheduled for the "examination." I took the test, passed the test, and got another letter in the mail about two months after my test saying I had passed and that my name will be placed in an "eligibility list." What now? Does any one know what happens after this process? Thank you all so much! any info is appreciated. I did get a call from Harbor UCLA and filled out some paper work and got scheduled for an interview. But is this test for all LA county nurse jobs? What has your experience been like? I also heard something about a verbal exam/ interview? what is that?
@Sophia, RN: I have an interview for relief nurse position this Tuesday, do you have any advice for me that might've helped you land your job? Thanks in advance :)
Hi everyone,
Here is my timeline if helps..
I applied May 17th.
July 11th-got the acceptance e-mail for the written test
July 18th-took the written test
August 1st-received the e-mail and letter of eligibility. Same day I also got a phone call from Harbor UCLA for OR interview..
August 2nd-Submitted my documents.
August 12th-Had the interview with the OR manager, next day I got a call with a job offer. I did the live scan the next day.. I am impatiently waiting.
OR has always been my dream. Btw, congrats Sophia,RN.
I can't wait to get my start date.. Good luck to all of you. Just at the most expected time getting a call or an e-mail is the best feeling. Just when I had lost hope..
Congratulations, Sophia! I'm scared to say which hospital I work at because I like to stay anonymous here, but I will say that I work on a medical surgical floor at one of the County hospitals. In general, we deal with very sick patients, many of whom have had little or no access to medical care, so you will see a lot of interesting (and sad) things that you might not see at other facilities. If you have the right attitude, you can learn A LOT! It has been my experience that County offers excellent training and learning opportunities for new nurses. Best of luck to you! :)
@RN/Mom I got a job offer yesterday for Harbor. I am so exited! What hospital do you work in? Again thanks so much for all the useful info :)
