LA County Nursing Applicants for Spring 2017-Generic Option

Published

Hello. Well I see that no one has posted anything for Spring 2017 applicants and I know that I'm feeling a little nervous here so I'd like to know if there's anyone out there on the same boat that I am.

For the 2x2 pic are u guys doing the passport style pic or just a regular pic ?

Hi Guys

Sorry I'm late to this thread, but I wanted to post because I wanted to know what the 2x2 photo was for as well and had some info about what goes on for the health screen.

The photo just something they are going to staple to your folder so they can put a face with a name. It's not going on any kind of ID or anything, so it doesn't have to be a high quality picture or print.

I didn't call to verify that I'd cleared my live scan before I got my health clearance appt. I just got the email that said call and make an appt and I did. (Maybe I jumped the gun, I dunno!)

It's in the same building as the live scan and you have to do a fit test (not at all what it sounded like to me--I was like "oh crap, I didn't wear the right shoes for a fitness test!"). It's literally putting on a face mask. It is a fitMENT not a fitNESS thing. After you do that, you then get your shots taken care of. I brought my immunization records from when I was a kid. I needed the flu shot, TB test and Hep B series. She draws blood to test before you're allowed to get the Hep B series started and she tells you to come back in a week (assuming your TB is negative--if not you go back within a couple days).

Happy to answer any other questions if I can.

Also, I am carpooling with a friend if anyone else wants in on this. She's driving from Inglewood to my place (I live right near the La Brea exit off the 10 fwy) and then we're carpooling from there. I have access to a locked parking lot, so your car will be safe if you leave it here.

See you guys next week! (OMG I'm trying really hard to not be nervous.)

After you applied and choosed LAC as your primary school, you should contacted the financial aid office to checked on your status. If you approved school will send award letter. I just contacted her last Friday, however she just back from her vacation, so she said she hasn't had any chance to checked on anything yet.

about the 2x2 photo, when we need that photo? I did not heard anything about photo from the school or HR.

They sent us an email with the info for orientation ... we need it by Monday

School starts on Tuesday...good luck guys!! You guys are going through orientation this week, right? I just wanted to throw out some info to answer a few questions I saw.

-Achieving a 3.5+ GPA is definitely possible if you put work in. I had a ~3.24 GPA during first, and ~2.84 during second semester. I could have done a lot better, but I like having somewhat of a social life so I'm okay with those grades.

-If you are waiting for financial aid to come through, you don't have to worry about paying tuition until that comes through. At least that is how it was for my first year.

-The 2x2 photo they collect from us is for the yearbook and they just keep it on file. They say they need it by a certain date, but some of my classmates haven't turned theirs in a year later so if you don't have one yet I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi all this is kind of unrelated, I'm applying to LAC USC in the summer, but I live in OC. I grew up in LA county my whole life, but my parents moved to the OC 2 years ago. Could I still apply using a friend's address? Thanks any response in much appreciated

It actually doesn't matter where you live, so you could use your own address.

Their admissions page says that you need to be a LA county resident 1 year prior to applications but I'm not sure how strictly they enforce it. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use your friends address if they don't mind.

I have a question of my own. I received the questionnaire for Fall application cycle. I don't need to take the TEAS so I probably won't be dropping in. Does not completing the questionare hurt my chances in any way? I read in some previous posts that some person didn't even receive a questionnaire and was admitted. I just wanted to make sure.

Why is this a choice school for so many?

Oops then in that case ignore my comment lol I would use the friends address. And well I would advice you to simply complete the questionnaire. I'm not sure if they actually take it into account when selecting who they admit, but I mean the questionnaire is easy to complete so why not do it? Especially if you really want to get in.
