Got another question, why are they doing away with LPN's? Some of us do not want to be CNA's forever, but don't think they can be an RN. So an LPN would be a happy medium. But if there is no longer going to be, any such title as LPN, then I believe the hourly rate of a CNA, should be what an LPN makes......Don't you??:clown:

They've been talking about doing away with LPN's for 35 years lol. Although many hospitals do not use LPN's, there are other facilities where an LPN can find employment such as: nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health, hospice, methadone clinics & doctor's offices. Some LPN's I know even work as school nurses.

i agree i think a c.n.a. deserves at least $18 - $20 an hour, especially those with experience.

sounds good but then you would see your work load double as they could not possibly pay as many cnas at that rate.

it's tough to love what you do but have a hard time making a living at it.

i am curious as to why the op doesn't think she /he could be an rn?

i thought that for years... but i graduate in one week.

i have been a cna since 1988.

don't be afraid to try!

That's funny! As I read the original post I was thinking I remember hearing the same news while I was in LPN school 40 years ago! Some things never change. I hope it never does happen - we need those LPN's!

that be the day, i am sure the schooling would be longer, but i am sure who is already certified they would need to study up and get a license

I agree CNA pay should be as much as LPNs then maybe CNAs wouldn't quit their jobs so much.
