KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012

Published

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks!

hm, anyone have any idea when we'll receive our financial award letters?

@lizyun, if you are talking about financial aid, and this is your first semester, they usually don't show your awards right away. You might want to give them a call. I have always had to stay on top of them every semester that I've attended KSU. You may be missing something like a form, and no one will call or send an email. They shouldn't be too busy at this time in the semester, so you should be able to speak to someone. Also, after you call, call back a couple days later to see if you are told anything different. Sometimes student-workers answer the phone and you can get different information even if you ask the same question.

I received my award already ever before classes started. You should check your requirements and see if there's any file missing. They don't email or call you if any documents haven't been satisfied.

Hey everyone!

I also will be starting the accelerated program at KSU in the Spring! I came across this thread and wanted to say hello because I am excited to get started and to meet everyone! I read back through the thread and all of the information is very helpful. I have also ordered my Calculate with Confidence book so I should be receiving it soon. I saw where several people are interested in meeting up once or twice before the Spring and I think that is a good idea. I also am interested in possibly rooming with some people close to KSU if anyone else who is interested would like to message me about it that would be good. I know we have a few months before we start, but I just wanted to go ahead and say hello!

Thanks LunahRN! We can use initials though right?

According to the owner of this site, you are not allowed to use initials. The terms of service state that you may not use anything that could identify someone. In this case, initials could identify someone, as in everyone would see j.s. and say oh that's professor john smith. You may identify yourself at your own risk, but you may not identify others.

Congratulations everyone on your acceptance!! I am a first semester student in the accelerated program. Last May, I was in your shoes. I was so excited and wanted to get everything done as soon as possible- I couldn't wait to get started! My advice would be to RELAX while you can! You will have plenty of time to get things taken care of when you get your orientation info in the mail. The only thing I did ahead of time was get my stethoscope.

Please feel free to pm me any questions you may have about the program. Enjoy your free time while you still can, lol. I absolutely love being a student at KSU and have met people who I know will be lifelong friends. If you want to get involved with our student nurse associations, you can check out NSNA and GANS. These are state and national organizations. There is a fee to join, but it is definitely worth it. KSU SNA is free to join. Also, pre-nursing students can join the state and local organizations so spread the word ;)

Again, congrats and I hope to see you at orientation!

Thanks jb2u for the correction. @peach thanks! Do they have a website where we can join? It will be nice if you can paste the link for us :)

@ Peachy, thank you for the information.

@ Proms, here is the link to KSU's SNA website. http://www.ksusna.com/

There are links for the GA and National Associations on the website. Hope this helps.

Also, if you do a google search, there are also other nursing associations (based on race and ethnicity ie: Asian-American, African-American, etc.) that have chapters in GA that allow students to become student members.

Oops, sorry I'm not a student yet at KSU. I meant the financial aid for Spring semester 2012?

You should still give them a call, to make sure you are not missing anything. Also check if you have any outstanding requirements on Owl Express.

Hey Seagreen8!

I'm looking to room with someone as well. There is one other person on this forum that also said they were too so maybe we can pool together to get a better deal. =)

I'm in the traditional program though, if it matters....

Let me know!
