don't know what to do

Published

hello guys, just wanna share my feelings about everything... just passed my NCLEX-VN March of this year... got an on-call job this Month (May) in LTC... Now, that i had my orientation I don't feel that i will like it. Maybe because i'm still adjusting to it? I am sad because prior to this, me and my husband has so much plan for the future. But i don't want to disappoint or i don't want him to think that i am a quitter. But i want to have a job that i am happy and comfortable on what i am doing. I am used to office/clerical jobs 8-5 shift. Is there anyway, that i can work as LVN but 8-5 shift? i'm so confused if i will continue being an LVN & i'm thinking about all the hard works that i've been through just to get my license. any advice? *sigh* :(

I am an LPN and I work in a doctors office. I love it. M-F 8-5, you still use your nursing skills and judgement but it's much less stressful...also less pay, but it's worth it to me.

oh! i wanna work just like that i don't care if it pay less but atleast no stress & most importantly happy... what state are u from?

I live in Missouri, so I don't know how similar our situations are but you should definitely look into clinic nursing!

p.s. I didn't no stress, just less stress! Lol

@mibrow81 try home care. That's where I work now and I find it to be less stressful. Depending on your pt's needs your hours may no be as long.

There are a lot of office jobs available for LPN's, just keep an eye out. Try using indeed.com or Craigslist. I see ads all the time. Like others have mentioned, the pay is less than LTC, but the atmosphere seems to be very ideal. If I was not still in school, I might consider it. Good luck

thank you... i live in California & it's so hard to find a job in a clinic setting here... :( But im still looking though... & we plan to move to a different state hopefully. :)

thank you... I am considering home care also but at the same time doubtful because i dont have any experience aside from my clinical rotation. thanks so much :)

Hey, Yes I think you will like the clinic setting alot! I loved it!! Normal working hours and the pay does vary with exp and location. Def check Indeed.com and career Builder. Hang in there and keep ya head up!!!

While LTC is definitely much more stressful(and more distasteful) than clinic nursing, you use your nursing skills much more as well as more time management skills in LTC. It might behoove you to get a little experience in LTC since you are brand new, but I definitely urge you to look for the clinic jobs too. You will like them better...trust me, I worked LTC for many years and LOVED the change to clinic nursing. I would've stayed with clinic nursing if it had paid more. Just my opinion...from many years of experience.

Perhaps you're just nervous about your new job. Give yourself time to like it. If you really don't, that's when you should try other 'less stressful' work settings. :)
