don't know what to do

Published

hello guys, just wanna share my feelings about everything... just passed my NCLEX-VN March of this year... got an on-call job this Month (May) in LTC... Now, that i had my orientation I don't feel that i will like it. Maybe because i'm still adjusting to it? I am sad because prior to this, me and my husband has so much plan for the future. But i don't want to disappoint or i don't want him to think that i am a quitter. But i want to have a job that i am happy and comfortable on what i am doing. I am used to office/clerical jobs 8-5 shift. Is there anyway, that i can work as LVN but 8-5 shift? i'm so confused if i will continue being an LVN & i'm thinking about all the hard works that i've been through just to get my license. any advice? *sigh* :(

I agree with the previous poster. I felt like crying when I first started working LTC. I thought I had made a big mistake and felt I wasn't cut out for it. But you end up adjusting over time. It probably took a year before I became totally comfortable.

Dr. offices, or have you considered a school nurse job? Some LTC places do 8 hour shifts.

If you are looking to eventually move to a different state, my advice would be to look under usajobs.gov and try to find a job at a VA hospital. The reason being, once you get into the VA, if you decide to another state, you will not have to apply for a nursing liscence in that state. Your current liscence will be good in all 50 states as long as you transfer to another federal facility. Also, the benifits are awaseome. Best of luck to you! =0)
