Know any reputable RN to BSN Online that can be completed in a little less than 12 mos?

Published

I'll be taking my NCLEX soon and I have been searching for renowned RN to BSN online programs that have curriculums that can be completed in, a little more or less, 12 months.. I'd also like for it to be affordable, preferably $10 to $15,000, but if a program is worth the $20,000 I wouldn't mind.

Please nursing community, send me your views on your known RN to BSN Online experiences... thanks!

Many schools grant en bloc credit for possessing the RN license, facilitating timely completion of the RN-to-BSN program. WGU grants 50 credits for having an active RN license, bringing all applicants closer to the 120 credits needed to graduate.

In addition, Colorado has an articulation agreement that allows online schools with a physical location in that state to grant 40 credits to candidates who possess active RN licensure. Therefore, Colorado-based schools (UC Denver, Colorado State, American Sentinel, Colorado Technical) are an option for someone who wants to complete an online BSN within 12 months.

That's pretty awesome. The local brick and mortar RN-BSN here only grants 30 credits. I believe actual program time is 16 months (three traditional semesters full time), plus the gen eds. I initially considered going this route before I realized what that ultimately meant. It would take me 2.5-3 years to complete an ADN (including pre-reqs) and then roughly 3 years for RN-BSN. You are also only allowed to transfer 60 credits in, which may not be a challenge if you only did your ADN at the community college, but if you decide to do gen eds and prereqs there to save money, you might find yourself disappointed come application time.

I'm done hijacking now. ☺️

I needed a ton of gen-ed (50 units to do, total) at WGU and still managed it in less than a term (3.5 months, actually). So a really motivated person with a lot of gen-ed could easily finish under a year, if not sooner. YMMV. :)

That is what scares me. Motivation aside, how can you say that you adequately acquired a significant knowledge base in only 3.5 months? This is why they need a higher accreditation for nursing. Business schools have the AACSB which signifies that a school meets a much higher standard.

The CCNE seems to grant accreditation to way too many programs.

That aside, :dancgrp:way to go!

I think we must remain cognizant that the person who completed the BSN completion program in 3.5 months already brought 25+ years of nursing experience to the table, which is nothing to sneeze at. Her previous clinical experiences, in addition to intrinsic motivation, probably facilitated speedy degree completion.

Thomas Edison State College uses life experience along with credits,so you may want to check them out!

Chamberlain is another one that you can complete in 12 months, but they cost $30,000.

Also, the tuition and fees at Thomas Edison State College are as expensive as heck for those of us who are not residents of New Jersey.

The OP was looking for a program that cost under $10,000.

Hi tell me how strict is the requirement for working 20 hours a week? When is the initial check before you began the program?
