Kings Bay, GA Naval Base

Published

Anyone have any information on this base? Medical facilities??

I spent a month of hell there doing MAA (cop) training. What do you want to know? It's primary purpose is to run the Boomers (nuclear subs). Most of the base you're not even allowed to see unless you have a purpose, and it gets REALLY fun during lockdown drills, because they roll out two Bradley's in front of the main gate, and everyone from cook to cleaner grabs a gun and hits the field between the main gate and the subs. They even bust out the attack dogs, the counter-sniper groups, and more .50 cals than you'd care to stare at! As for medical, I never needed any medical, but I'm pretty sure everyone who needs it just goes to Jacksonville (NAS Jax). If memory serves (2003) and since I wasn't driving, but JAX is only like an hour away. Hope this helps!
