Thanks for the info nope i did not take any refresher course or continuing education , i just took 9 day review course for nclex. is that considered as a refresher coursE?[/quote']No it is not but it might be something to consider as you have not ever worked in a nursing role or a relevant clinical setting since graduation. This would show initiative of updating your clinical skills
and i just added my clinical skillis
[h=1]Nursing Skills:[/h]Intradermal, Subcutaneous and Intramuscular Injection, Foley Catheter Insertion, Wound Dressing, Assisting in Major and Minor Surgeries, Oral And Tracheal Suctioning, Insulin Therapy, New Born Care, Assisting in Delivery, Cord Care,
what should i do to update my clinical skills... the reason why i took me so long to take the exam is because BRNCA denied our application for exam and it took us over a year to know the status of our applications was denied [/quote']Take a BRN approved nurse refresher course especially if educated outside the US. Most include clinical & lab. There are many nurses and few jobs available in CA. You are at a distinct disadvantage having such a gap between graduation & licensing with no relevant experience. You do not qualify fir new grad internships or preceptorships. You will be competing against fresh new grads & recently experienced nurses for jobs. CA has up to 48% unemployment rate for nurses, especially inexperienced nurses

Cord care is not a typical US student skill and the rest are basic skills all new grads are expected to have. However if you haven't practiced in over 3 years you don't have recent skills and proficiency, hence the recommendation to take a refresher course. US nurses don't assist in major or minor surgeries.

You have no professional nursing experience and have been out of school for 3 1/2 years so I don't know how you could possibly list "assisting in delivery" or "assisting in major or minor surgeries" as a nursing skill. You've never worked as a nurse doing these things. Everything else listed are basic nursing skills that all nurses can do. You are a nurse, the prospective employer knows (or at least hopes) you can give injections and suction a patient.
@ justbeachynurse it is because caregiving is not a stable job thats why some of my jobs is not longer than 10 months... how many months if i will take the refresher coursE?[/quote']About 6 weeks. You can find a list of approved nurse refresher courses on CA BRN website. Here's one approved course:
