Kennesaw State University BSN Fall 2016

Published

Has Anyone applied for Fall 2016 yet? I just took my TEAS and applied right after that! Nervous and unsure. Now for the forever long wait come quickly May!!!

Overall GPA 3.5

5 math/science- 2 A's, 3 B's

7/12: 7 A's

TEAS 87.3

Specializes in NICU.

Hey all!

So I am a little worried about my situation, as I think my GPA might be a little lower than most applicants. My overall scores are as followed:

GPA: 3.45

5/7: 4 A's, 1 B

7/12: 6 A's, 1 B

TEAS: 86.7

This brings me to a total of 82.39/90 total points.

I am applying for the Accelerated BSN program as I already have a degree in Biology from KSU! It would be nice if they gave alumni an upper-hand but I spoke to the adviser (Fran) and apparently they do not :(

However, I am actually taking the rest of the prereqs now (A&P 2, SOCI and Developmental PSYC) so hopefully I can increase my 5/7 and 7/12 numbers.

Anyways, good luck everyone!

it's just frustrating how late they notify you on admission. waiting until april is ridiculous when other schools let you know this month

GPC also waits until April and GSU starts letting people know in March.

I met with a nursing advisor today and was told letters should go out in the next couple weeks, and that I should hear by the 28th!

Do you mean March 28th? Also, did they say if it will be email, mail, or phone call?

Yes, March 28th. You get a letter in the mail.

Wow, much earlier than I thought! Thanks for the info @cterry16

Yea I was thinking late April. Thanks for sharing!

That is a lot earlier than I expected! I was emailing with one of the advisors a few weeks ago and was told that we'd find out at the end of April, so that is good news! Fingers crossed!

@jenna.morgan22 The 5 out of 7 means 5 sciences out of the 7. They do not even look at your grade in lab unless it is a two letter grade difference. So, an A in lecture and A or B in lab is an A, but an A in lecture and C in lab is a B. Your math and science classes are weighted the most, and everything else (7/12,TEAS,and GPA) are all weighted the same. As for how competitive things are, it more depends on the stats of who you are applying against than the number. Yes, less people usually apply for accelerated, but there is half the amount of spots in accelerated as well. They are both highly competitive, and the amount of applications for this fall are higher than usual for both traditional and accelerated.

Out of curiosity... what if you had a B in lecture and an A in lab? Hopefully the hands on will count for something! Thanks!

I believe, but correct me if I'm wrong, that the grades work out to an average. As the lecture grade is a 3 hour credit and the lab is a 1 hour credit, the lecture is weighted more heavily, thus the B would stand as the grade. However, if there was a greater disparity in the grades, such as An A in lecture and a C in lab, then the grade would stand at a B.

They actually do not even look at the lab grades at all, unless there is a two letter grade difference, and THEN they average them both together. So, in your case they will not even look at the A in lab, only the B in lecture.
