Has Anyone applied for Fall 2016 yet? I just took my TEAS and applied right after that! Nervous and unsure. Now for the forever long wait come quickly May!!!
Overall GPA 3.5
5 math/science- 2 A's, 3 B's
7/12: 7 A's
TEAS 87.3
Hi I've been scouring this website for Fall 2016 people! So when everyone is talking about the "best 5/7" does this mean they average your lab grades with your lecture grade? Or if I have an A in Anatomy Lecture and an A in Anatomy Lab does it count as 2 separate A's? I went in for advising at the beginning of this week and the adviser counted my A's for both lectures and labs but that obviously adds up to more than 7 so I was confused. Also, does anyone know how each score (5/7, 7/12, TEAS, and GPA) are weighted for admission? I applied for accelerated and traditional and was also wondering if anyone knew if the accelerated is less competitive than the traditional since less people usually apply for accelerated? Thanks for the help!
@jenna.morgan22 The 5 out of 7 means 5 sciences out of the 7. They do not even look at your grade in lab unless it is a two letter grade difference. So, an A in lecture and A or B in lab is an A, but an A in lecture and C in lab is a B. Your math and science classes are weighted the most, and everything else (7/12,TEAS,and GPA) are all weighted the same. As for how competitive things are, it more depends on the stats of who you are applying against than the number. Yes, less people usually apply for accelerated, but there is half the amount of spots in accelerated as well. They are both highly competitive, and the amount of applications for this fall are higher than usual for both traditional and accelerated.
jenna.morgan22 The post below answered it best, and as to the competitive nature of both programs, it all depends on the applicant pool. I believe the last few rounds of admittance have had around 600 or more applicants to the program. They admit 120 students, 80 of which are traditional and 40 are on the accelerated path.
I hope for our sake that the applicant pool is not too large. It's hard to tell this year. I've figured up my competitive score out of 90. I hope it will be enough. I could probably take the TEAS V again if I don't get a seat for Fall. It would be awful to not get in because of one test.
(To calculate :
Total GPA- 20 points (multiply your GPA by 20 then divide by 4)
Top 5/7 - 30 points (math and science GPA only, multiplied by 30 then divide by 4)
Top 7/12-20 points (same as total GPA calculation)
TEAS 20 points - multiply by 20 then divide by 100
This gives you your competitive score
I hope that we all make it to orientation!

Has anyone spoken to a rep regarding the Sociology requirement. For Traditional, will they accept Intro?
