Kennesaw State Nursing Spring 2018

Published

Anyone else out there applying to KSU's nursing program for Spring admission? Post your stats and whether you are applying for accelerated or traditional. I just submitted my application for traditional.

My stats are:

Overall GPA: 4.0

5/7 GPA: 4.0

7/12 GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 88%

Competitive Score: 87.6/90

****Total GPA- 20 points (multiply your GPA by 20 then divide by 4)

Top 5/7 - 30 points (math and science GPA only, multiplied by 30 then divide by 4)

Top 7/12-20 points (same as total GPA calculation)

TEAS 20 points - multiply by 20 then divide by 100

This gives you your competitive score

Yes, the anticipation is making me crazy! Good luck:)

Have any of you applied anywhere else? If I am not accepted to Kennesaw for Spring '18, I will be applying there again for Fall '18, as well as to Mercer and U of North Georgia (where I currently attend).

I've applied to GSU/ perimeter college.

I applied to GGC and if I don't get into either than I'll send my application to GSU

Hi, you might like to know, bc it caught me off guard completely, but here's the deal. They do SAY you can apply without all the prereqs completed, the first time I applied (for this fall) I was in Chem I and was taking Chem II in the subsequent maymester. I was not selected, and asked a woman who I'd been communicating with some what else I could do besides have a 4.0 and a 92 on the TEAS (not bragging, just wanting to put my scores out there for understanding). She said that they have so many applicants (about 800 people and they take about 10%) that a natural cut off point was at those who hadn't even finished all prereqs. Wish I'd known before I thought I had a chance this fall. I'm currently waiting to hear back about January, bc now all my prereqs are done. Good luck.

Did you apply for the accelerated or traditional? I wonder if it makes a difference? I had hoped to finish up with Chem II in summer 2018 and start for the fall 2018 cohort. I just looked at their application deadlines, and if this is true going forward, it's going to put me back an entire year, with a fall 2019 start! í ½í¸±

Traditional, and the difference it may make is maybe less apply to accelerated. I understand that feeling of being bumped back, totally pissed me off mainly bc no one told me it was even a possibility that not having all prereqs would be a deal breaker. Hate to be the one to send the message you don't want to hear, but likely it will be an issue. You could always email over to the nursing school and ask if they have any ideas. They usually say it depends on every class, who applies, the scores, etc. But if they told you there really wasn't a chance if all prereqs weren't done, then I couldn't have gotten to pay two KSU app fees AND two nursing program app fees! Again, good luck.

Question is it only the pre-req or what the KSU university requires? Because I have all my pre-req for the nursing program but I'm missing another English class and another PE class because where I'm at is only a 1 credit class and they need a 3 credit class.

If I understand your question correctly, it is the nursing program specifically that wants the necessary prereqs done before getting accepted to the program. Again, the site SAYS you can apply before you are all done. And you can. But it doesn't mean they will consider you a good or competitive applicant.

I have all my nursing pre-reqs but in order to graduate from KSU I need to have an extra English class and another PE class. That's what I was wondering if they also look at those classes or just the pre-req for the nursing program.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm pretty sure they are just looking at the nursing program prereqs, with particular emphasis on the math and sciences being completed. But again, so many are applying that they can demand all prereqs be completed.

Yea that's what I heard. I have 4.0 in both math and science so will see. Thanks for replying.
