Anyone else out there applying to KSU's nursing program for Spring admission? Post your stats and whether you are applying for accelerated or traditional. I just submitted my application for traditional.

My stats are:

Overall GPA: 4.0

5/7 GPA: 4.0

7/12 GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 88%

Competitive Score: 87.6/90

****Total GPA- 20 points (multiply your GPA by 20 then divide by 4)

Top 5/7 - 30 points (math and science GPA only, multiplied by 30 then divide by 4)

Top 7/12-20 points (same as total GPA calculation)

TEAS 20 points - multiply by 20 then divide by 100

This gives you your competitive score

Hello,

I am planning to apply for the nursing program for Spring 2018, but I am not sure if my scores are good enough.

I see the information posted below and apparently, I don't have a good teas score.

Overall GPA: 3.93

5/7 GPA: 4.0

7/12: 4.0

Teas: 82

Do you think that I would be able to be considered?

Should I apply for the accelerated and traditional nursing program?

I am just thinking about it, because I am doing an Associated degree in another institution, and if I believe that I have the chance to get approved for nursing at KSU, I have to register for fall 2017 to be able to apply for the nursing program in Spring 2018.

I may have to go and talk to an advisor...

But I would like to hear your opinions :)

Thanks and Good Luck to everybody!

I calculated your score and you are 86.5/90. I was following a similar thread that was Spring 2017 KSU applicants and the average score that got in was around an 86/90 and I even saw as low as 84/90. So, I think you have a great shot and you should definitely apply. As I understand it, if you don't have a previous degree then you have to apply to the traditional. I am applying for traditional. I wouldn't want to do accelerated anyway. Nursing school is already hard, no need to make it harder LOL.

Hay ,

I'm applying for Spring 2018 Accerlerated AND traditional at KSU. I'll have my BS in Mathematics in May 2017. I haven't taken the TEAS yet. Im from MS so that's nothing I ve never heard of. But I plan to take it in April

I'm applying for spring 2018. I have to wait until the end of this semester since I'm still in some prerequisites.

Overall GPA: 4.0

5/7: 4.0 (still in one but have an A)

7/12: 4.0 (still in one but have an A)

I haven't taken my TEAS test yet though.

How did you calculate your 5/7 and 7/12 with the labs?

Hi All!

Good luck to everyone that is applying for Spring '18. I am trying to calculate my stats, which seem a bit more difficult than the norm because I have a BS degree from 1 school and have taken a bunch of courses at about 3 other schools plus have an MPH degree. Im sure that I will most likely have to consult with a program advisor for assistance, but just wondering (since it is a Saturday and I cannot get help from the school right now...lol). Is anyone privy to the course substitutions. Like, could Abnormal Psychology or Cognitive Psychology substitute for Gen Psych...

Also, is Finite Math the same as Model Math? I have College Algebra I, II and Finite Math...my lowest score happens to be in College Algebra I © and A's in II and Finite...does anyone know...just curious to get a ballpark tally of my stats.

I just submitted my app to KSU and will submit my app to the program after I take the TEAS at the end of this month!

Any credible advice would be amazing. Im already anxious! lol

On KSU's website they have a transfer course evaluation that shows which courses are equivalent to other courses. That should tell you if your finite math is equivalent to model math & other classes you have questions about!

Thanks @Awat1229. This really helped!!

Are y'all current KSU students? I'm currently enrolled somewhere else and was hoping to transfer to KSU starting this summer, but I can't register for classes until my orientation. I still need to take microbiology and organic chemistry, but they're all pretty much full for summer and fall.

Does anyone know if I can stay at my current school for summer and fall and still be able to start the nursing program spring 18? Or do I need to be enrolled the semester before the start of the nursing program? I know I'd have to apply again for general admissions if I don't enroll this summer, I'm just wondering if I actually have to be enrolled. Their classes filling up so fast is just stressing me out.

Hey.

I'm not a current student, but to my understanding, you can still apply to KSU now and just indicate that you're applying for the Spring 2018 semester and continue taking the rest of your prereqs at your current institution.

I think I read on the Fall 17 that you'll have to update admissions on the status of your classes in progress if you're not taking them at KSU. Call admissions or the nursing department for a definite answer. Hope this helps...

Yes, I'm currently taking my prereqs at a community college close by my university. I will be done in July. Have anyone taken there TEAS? I take mine at KSU next Friday and would love some pointers.
