I have applied to Keiser University CRNA program in Naples, FL for 2019.. anyone else planning to or already applied there for 2019? Anyone starting in January 2019? Please do not comment about the school being a "last resort" school as seen in past threads and posts. This thread is intended solely for current and future applicants applying in 2019. If you had interviewed at Keiser before, please provide some insights.
ive done some extensive research on this school, its low and hi points. I have met a few of the instructors. You can also talk 2 ICU/EMTP who is currently in the program. IT is my belief I will receive the proper education needed 2 pass the boards. Plus, school in sunny Naples,Fl...how could u go wrong.
It will probably take you 3 to 4 weeks to hear back and I noticed that if they like your application another month for interview. if you make it past the interview you will get the nod that friday. that is my experience. im sure its a bit different from the next persons

First semester was three days per week. 2 and 3 are four days. Most days are fairly short, giving you plenty of needed study time!

Unlike many schools, they tend not to waste time interviewing people they don’t already want. Not to say a poor interview won’t disqualify you.

Jan 2020 is there last MSN class
Keep them on your list. This is a good school in my opinion from what I have seen so far.
Good luck on the GRE
Congrats to everyone for getting this far! I'm in the most recently accepted class. We started in January 2019. If you're curious on class size, our class has 23 students! Good luck to everyone! So far, I personally think this is a great school and have no regrets! Now back to studying for finals...
I just want to thank everyone who responded in this discussion post. I read everyone's responses and learned a lot of information. I will be finishing my BSN in June. Next, I will be taking GREs sometime over the fall. That will be all that I have left to complete before applying into the program.
Does anyone have advice for someone who has only ER and Cath Lab nursing experience? I plan on taking my CCRN as well as my CEN, but I don't have any specific critical care experience. Any advice from anyone with minimal to no experience regarding Kaiser's program and be accepted in? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Congrats to everyone who was able to gain acceptance into the upcoming cohorts. I own a home in Naples and have two spare bedrooms that I may be renting out to fellow classmates once I can get accepted into the program.

josh,
You will find it tough to get into CRNA school at most places with ER experience. Almost all schools wpuld like ICU exp bc they deal more with vasopressors, vents, post op care. I seriously would consider Cardiothoracic surgery unit. I personally believe it will give you the best experience; however, not necessary as ICU is good enough. Many if not all require 1 year of experience and I would recommend 2 years.
Dont need it, but if you want to be competitive CCRN should be a must.
I start in Sept with these creds....to give u an idea........CCRN, CSC, GPA 3.7, 12 years Cvicu, icu, trauma, GRE 299.
I wrote a Kick *** essay. Really spend some quality time on your essay. They loved mine bc I asked them. I think your essay says a lot about your writing skills. Study your ccrn book before your interview.....They will ask you clinical questions. Wear a suit and tie. Now of course this is not necessary, but I bought a new suit, tie, shirt, and shoes. Right around 800 bucks. I figured I would eadily wear it more than once. Dress for success!

Do you have any pointers on the essay? Is there a part of becoming a CRNA that you focused on more than other areas? I am preparing to write mine so I can submit my application and want to submit something outstanding as you did.

Same question!! I always struggle with the personal statement. And I hate when schools ask certain questions and you spend half the paper answering them, leaving hardly any room to let them get to know you. I'd appreciate if you could PM me an excerpt or evaluate my current one. Thx!

Thanks for your response. I expect it to be a challenge to get into school with primarily ER experience only. I have worked at level one trauma centers and am comfortable with invasive monitoring devices, but of course those whole ICU experience on a regular basis is something I am lacking. I plan on doing my CCRN over the summer and then I will apply. Worse they can say is no. Thank you for the advice on everything. I wrote a few drafts of my essay so far and have had friends proofread it and critique it.
I would love to work in CVRU or SICU, but the local hospitals near me are not currently hiring and I am unable to travel outside my city. I am still going to give it a shot and see what happens. Great stats for you!!!
I own a few suits already. Dressing for success is something I teach my students and know how valuable it is to look the part.
Thanks again.
