Kaplan vs Univ. of Phoenix

Nursing Students Online Learning

Ok--I am new here and have been looking at the forum regarding going back to school . Here is what I want--I want my Bachelors in Science in Healthcare Management. At least that is what I think I want. I think that I will not use my BSN as much. I am an administrator now of a health unit and only have my assoc.

I want to do it online 100%--I looked at Kaplan and it looks so much cheaper than Univ. of P. Is there something that I am missing. What are the pros and cons of these schools? Why should I pick one over the other? I would appreciate any help.

Also, do you know about payments--how much did it cost you to get your degree?

Thanks :)

I attend Kaplan. It is a wonderful program. It is the less expensive one, with, in my opinion, a better curriculum. Everything is done online, and is very convenient. Of course, there are some classes that require an online seminar that is mandatory. The program is accredited and my federal student loan is covering it. All the books that you need are included in the tuition and they mail them directly to you. The online instructors are awesome, and you can always get help if you need it. The only thing hard about it is that youy have to do so much writing!

I recommend Kaplan all the way!

I personally did the BSN completion at University of Phoenix. It too is fully accredited with an excellent reputation. I did UofP because I knew that the MSN was my ultimate goal and with the BSN from there, I could go straight into the MSN.

You can go stright into MSN with Kaplan also. I have also heard that U of P is a great school.

Thanks Sagarcia - I didn't know that about Kaplan. Is that what you are going to do? If yes, what type of master's degrees do they offer? I was considereing the dual MSN/MBA but I can't quite seem to get in gear with those business classes, so I decided to stay with the MSN only at this time.

I have my MBA from U of P in one of their original programs. Pre-online classes............but I loved their program, and will probably go there for my doctorate when I get a free moment. Fingers in too many pots right now to take on anything else.

Yeah, that is my plan. I cannot believe how much easier and better it is online! I don't think I would do it if I had to go back to an actual classroom!

I just finished my BSN from Kaplan...LOVED IT!!! I am also looking into getting my masters. MSN/MBA is with UOP but Kaplan only has MSN. Instructors are helpful at Kaplan, everything was a breeze :D.

Did any of you have to take a TEAS exam at Kaplan!?!

Im working on my BS in Health Science.

Can I transfer from there to Kaplan to get my masters!?!

I say go Phoenix!
