Kaplan Q-Bank...

Published

Do you think Kaplan Q-Bank questions are considerably more difficult than the NCLEX itself? I test in 20 days and I'm all over the board with my scores. I'm ranging from 40's-70's!!! I have NO clue where I stand right now.

Same here. I test in two weeks and I'm half way done with Qbank. I'm at around 55-56%. I'm finding that questions like calculations are easy and the "choose the best" type questions are difficult.

Guess I'll be able to answer that questions for you guys Monday, I have taken all the Q trainers and all the Q bank questions. Had two friend just take it recently and they said it helped them both passed one with 82 questions and the other poor thing sat through 265.

I just took the NCLEX this last Wednesday and I too used Kaplan for review and to study. It is hard for me to give you an accurate representation of how hard the exam was compared to the Q-Banks. I have a different idea of what was challenging compared to you. also in my nursing program we may have covered different topics or even the same topics but in greater or lesser detail. All this would affect how hard I believe the questions were.

That being said, I think the beginning NCLEX questions were similar to that of the Q-banks. I believe the q-banks are passing level questions so anything above 60% would be a positive indication.

In no way do I want to make you unsure of yourself or scare you in anyway. I don't think you are very far from where you should be, just keep practicing and applying what you know to real life questions. Have you done the question trainers or the assessment and secure predictor tests? Do not stop reviewing material until the day before the NCLEX, but do not stress over it. Remember, to pass the NCLEX you will not answer all the questions correctly; so why put added pressure on yourself?

kaplan ques are easier than nclex. i felt like you could eliminate kaplan ques down compared to the real nclex.

does Kaplan's q-bank have a lot of select all that apply questions?

Finished my test this morning, my machine shut off at 164 questions, I felt semi prepared using Kaplan, I think there test question were somewhat similar, the set of the test and Kaplan are almost identical. Did really feel confident about the test, because I was doubting myself. Once I got to the car and saw that the delivery was successful I tried the PVT and to my disbelief got the "good pop-up". I would say that the test questions are impossible if you take your time and think you will do fine. I'm glad I took Kaplan for review I do feel like it help me.

Awesome! Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do on the Kaplan Qbank tests?

Mostly in the upper 50's 56, 58........ Never could reach there magical 65% which would equal out to like a 97% chance to pass. I did do all the qbankquestions and the q trainers got better as I practice.

Congratulations Carolina_mom!!! I test in a couple of days and I feel unprepared. did all the Qtrainers and 87% of the Qbank questions with 61% average. Were the SATA hard and did you think the NCLEX questions were similar to the Qtrainers or Qbank questions? I don't do well on the Q Trainers..I actually feel like the Qbank were much easier.

I thought they were trickier, but really prepared me to think critically. NCLEX questions seemed easier because they were much more straight forward. Either you knew it or not. I started off getting 50-60% in the qbank and ended up getting in 70s and once or twice even in the 80s. I completely 80% of the qbank with a 62%. When I first did q bank before I did any qtrainers I messed myself up and got in the 40s.

The SATA were not that bad the one that is sticking out in my head that I was like are you kidding me is what are the signs of hypovolemic shock. They are straight forward not to bad, I was awful at SATA but I didn't think it was not that bad. Really focus on priority and what percaution you take with pts on airbourne, contact, droplet precautions. Really a lot of the test seemed simple not sure why I feel that way and walked out thinking I failed. Guess it is because you don't get instant results. The best advice I can give is read the question, some answers are obviously wrong and other you know are right. It took me 2 hrs to get through 140 some odd questions and the machine told me I could take a break and I did, came back refocused myself and started again and it shut off at 164. I normally fly through test but I took my time and did my best. You are your own worst enemy stay positive and take your time. Good luck you guys if I can do it, you can do it!!!!!!;)
