Hello everyone! I just received my degree conferral yesterday, and now I joined Kaplan On Demand today to review for NCLEX. I have a question about it.
When should I take the diagnostic test? It does not really give a set schedule, and I am kind of anal about this stuff haha. It just gives me a list of things that are required. I just watched 2 sets of videos, and I don't know if I need to watch the orientation and decision tree video first or do the diagnostic test prior to watching those videos. It says also I should read 2 chapters also in the course book which I don't have yet.
Please help!
Thanks!

Go ahead and take the diagnostic test now. It's just used as a starting point or baseline for your knowlege base. It don't really count but is good to see the areas where you are weakest. Think of it as being a guideline to showing you where to focus the greast amount of your studies to the least. Good luck!

:redbeathe I just purchased KAPLAN On Demand as well, I was a little confused as well with the syllabus. You need to take the diagnostic test first, that just gives you a baseline as to where you are showing areas of weakness. And things to work on.
I will Private message you my email if you would like??
Good Luck to you!!

Your Course Book will explain when to do each test. There are a few pages that outline everything for you.
Since you don't have the Course Book yet, I'll break it down for you:
Phase 1 (before beginning class):
-Review the Orientation video
-Watch the Strategy Seminar
-Watch Test Taking Workshop
-Take Kaplan's Diagnostic Test
-Read the RN Course Book (I just watched all the Lectures on Demand-Content and followed along in the book)
-Answer and Review Question Trainers 1, 2, and 3
Phase 2 (during class)
-Review the Decision Tree
-Review exam style questions
-Take the Readiness Test
Phase 3 (after class)
-Complete Question Trainers 4, 5, 6, and 7
-Complete the Question Bank
*Disclaimer: I did not do the On Demand class (I did the Classroom Anywhere class) so the outline above may differ for you, I'd wait to get the Course Book before beginning in case your book differs from mine
Good luck! :)

Hi, Can I just answer the questions and not totally watch the video, cause I'm planning to take on demand just for the trainers and qbank while some of the content maybe on lacharity and saunders. OR u NEED to watch everything first before answering the questions / skipping is not allowed? is it like that or you can do anything you want to do except for the Qbank and Qtrainers. thanks :)

I hope this course works out for you. Good luck.
I just received my course book yesterday, and I went through the orientation videos and book. I found out that there are content videos that correlates to the course book. The way I'm doing it, is that I'm just going to study the content material in the course book and videos. There is more than enough content to study from. After you take the diagnosis test, you can go over you weak points afterwards, but this is to be done in phase 2. Phase 1 is review content and orientation stuff. They recommend that you look go over the content and read the book before you go to phase 2 and 3 which is the qbanks and trainers. I was really confused with the set up also, but it all started making sense after I got the course book.
Kaplan on demand has no set scheduling so you can skip around if you want. There are phases that you can go by though. If you are talking the NCLEX for the first time, there is a money back guarantee as long as your school is accredited and you are a graduate within 6 months, but you have to finish everything, checking off all the videos, book work, videos, and questions.
Why are you going to pay $418 dollars if you are just going to use the trainers and qbank when they offer you content also. I would rather just concentrate on 1 reviewer instead of doing lacharity and saunders, etc., for me just the pharmacology content in the course book, is enough to make my head spin, but that is just me. I like it because they don't want you to study and memorize everything, they are more concerned about you getting concepts, because like they say, you will never get the same question again in NCLEX.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for this! I just got my content book yesterday, and I didn't like the fact I had to wait a total of 6 days to get it. I had signed up on Saturday and didn't receive it until Friday. I was kind of confused if I should do the content video and take notes in my book, or if I should read the book first because in the classroom version, they want you to read the book before attending class. I think I will just do what you did and watch the video and look over my book, and spend the rest of today looking over the book. I appreciate this reply. I am stating to do the Kaplan content today! Yay!

HELP HELP HELP RNs!
I'm already studying Saunders (about halfway through) and I need to practice with questions..be familiar with NCLEX. I'm thinking of KAPLAN. What's the difference between the ON Demand and Classroom Anywhere? If I get just the QBank ($299) am I going to miss out on a lot of stuff? thank you!!!

Hey there!! I had to make the same decision, if you want shoot me an email @ [email protected]
I'd rather not rant on here... lol!!
Either way, I would def. get some form of Kaplan. I am a re-taker on the NCLEX exam, In MY OPINION, Kaplan is closest to the actual board style questions.
Feel Free to email, either way- PRAY!! And I wish you the best!!

I would suggest that you do the videos or whatever. (I took it in the classroom setting, so I didn't have to go through the videos).
The point of Kaplan is to help you understand their trademarked approach to taking the NCLEX. I did very well in school, but it really helped me to look at the questions differently. I don't know how much you paid for it--I paid big bucks for the classroom version--but to get your money's worth, you really should go through the Decision Tree and such. If not, you would have been just as well off with a book and CD. :)
