Kaplan harder than NCLEX-RN, Passed with 75Q & Low Kaplan Scores

Published

Let me start off by saying that I don't know whether I recommend Kaplan or not for NCLEX review. I am on the fence because I took Kaplan, used all Q bank questions and Q trainers (and reviewed all questions from both twice); and I passed NCLEX-RN on the first try. I will give you a little background about me: I am an LPN and have been for 7 years, but am also severely out of practice, I was a C student in school and thought I would fail every semester (I failed none). In addition to Kaplan I did a little of Saunders, and I mean VERY little. I studied solidly for about 3 weeks with anywhere from 50-265 questions daily. I graduated Dec 2010, took Kaplan (in class) at the end of January, and took NCLEX-RN at the end of March.

My Kaplan scores for Qbank and Qtrainers ranged from 48%-70% (mostly in the 50's). When I sat for NCLEX I found the questions WAY easier than a lot of Kaplans thought-provoking questions. I got about 3 drag and drop, 8 or 9 SATA, infection control, a lot of priority (who would you see first) and a few pharmacology. The NCLEX SATA's were nowhere NEAR as difficult as Kaplans. The computer cut off at 75, and I was singing hallelujah because I felt very confident in my performance.

The reason why I felt confident, tho, was not because of the fact that I did thousands of Kaplan questions. I was confident because I prayed and truly believe that I took Jesus into that testing center with me. Prayer was the key for me, God is so good! I honestly feel that NCLEX is not a test that you can prepare for by doing content reviews or tons of questions. I mean honestly, you cant study everything, yet NCLEX CAN test you on ANYTHING. I spoke with a friend of mine a few days before my test and she said "Girl, put away those books now! None of that stuff will be on NCLEX!"...and she was right...I didn't see one question that was even similar! BUT...........every test is different and Kaplan may just help you, and maybe it helped me too (if very little)...BOTTOM LINE: If it is in God's will, YOU WILL BE AN RN! Also PVT works! Tried it about 45 minutes after the test and got the "good pop-up". I would also like to say that this site is a GREAT resource for both information and emotional support! Good luck future RN's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Hey there!! SO I have been studying for about 2 weeks now and I take the NCLEX on July 22. I have been scoring 49-51% on kaplan question trainer tests 1-4. I am doing about 50-150 questions a day and reviewing rationales. I feel discouraged and I have been praying. I'm wondering if I should reschedule. What's your advice? Thank in advice. God bless

Looking for some help on the Kpaln Diagnostic and the Readiness 2010..I have to take them in Agust and if i dont get a 65% then i fail the class..very stressing...that my whole lats semster hinges on these two test..any help would be great...acy

I got very low scores on all my kaplan tests (mostly in the 50's)...and I passed in 75 questions. Kaplan is way harder than the NCLEX.

what a positive outlook!!!! congrats!!! GOD BLESS US ALL!!!! :)

CONGRATS on passing!! I pray that I can have the same fate when I take my NCLEX RN this month as well!! thank you for all your insight and guidance it really means soo much!!

I feel the EXACT same way!!... ranging scores from 48%-72% with most scores in the 60% I take my exam on Jan. 15th getting very anxious!/nervous!

My practice scores:

Kaplan 7 TEST: T1- T6 60%-68% ; T7 did not finish

kaplan(strategies, practice, and review) 67%( 265Q)

kaplan strategy practice exam 72%( 180Q)

Lippincott NCLEX example test 69%(general test 75Q)

I passed NCLEX on my first try. did 75questions. good luck!

Congratulations to all of you who have passed!!! I will be taking my exam on April 8th...so you think you can let Jesus stay in the testing center till I'm finished with the exam:lol2:. K thanks :)

Before I went and take my test today, I look at this post and It give me some inspiration. I used kaplan also, those are my scores:

q1-69

q2-68

q3-48

q4-52

q5-53

q6-59

q7-55

my computer got shut off at 157 questions , did the pearson trick, got the good pop up....I know for sure , It was all GOD doing, All the Glory is for him.

You guys inspire me. My exam is this week. I am so nervous since the new NCLEX is out april 2013 with more people failing and harder passing rate. Same idea- Computer adaptive an all. God is good so I know he will guide me when I need to choose the best answer. I am doing my last q trainer 7 today- 265 questions is too long. I figured I will do it around my test time which is 2 pm. So I get a feeling on how its going to be on test day.

I can study and review questions so much. If its his will- I will have an RN after my name :) Good luck to all! God is great!
