Anyone use this book for the entrance to Carrington College? Seems there are mixed reviews about its effectiveness and accuracy? Is that true?

No joke I just bought this book today....I will take a look at it and its reviews because we have a head director who gave me sample questions of each section and the logo for the book is on the front so there is some link. Usually the practice books questions are harder than the real ones which can be good :)
I guess there are no guarantees on anything and you just have to minimize the risks the best you can and go for it.

I used that book to study for the Kaplan entrance exam. I found the math section VERY helpful. Although keep in mind that I'd been out of school for a while and needed to brush up on some basic things. I thought it did a good job of covering those basics and they were on the test. Lots of converting fractions, decimals - adding, subtracting, mult and dividing of fractions.
The rest of the book was helpful and it does give you 2 practice exams. I thought overall, it was worth buying.

I just took the Kaplan for a different school. Please consider the fact that although the book is Kaplan and the exam is Kaplan, if you look at the list of exams that book is suppose to cover, Kaplan is not one of them. I thought the Reading section of the book was very similar to the exam. There was much more writing stuff in the book than on the exam. The same with math. For us, the science on the exam was all Physiology; the book has MUCH more than that. YMMV, but honestly, I am not sure if I would recommend the book as a study guide for the Kaplan exam.
Just got the book...a lot thicker than it looks in the picture....lol
Hm....I've been hearing mixed reviews on this. I may need to push out my target start date if I'm going to go to Carrington and do some multi-level studying. Thank you Blue Felt Fedora.

I just took the kaplan. I used a variety of things to study but I didn't use this book. Mostly I printed out worksheets of mixed fractions which was EXTREMELY useful. I also used my TEAS study guide because I bought that last summer thinking I'd be taking the TEAS but the school I really want to get into just excepts the Kaplan. Stick to reading, writing, math and science for A&P. I found the section of physiology to be spot on with helping me with the science section of the kaplan.
Good luck!
GlennaKilgore thank you for all of that awesome info!! I was hoping for other suggestions, I was losing my mind camping out in the nursing section ar Barnes & Noble!
