Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
Yes, it is difficult to have high hopes just to get the goal post moved further away. Believe me, I'm with everyone that did not yet get selected for September, in that state of sadness from the news. However; keeping busy with work, pets and studying, certainly helps:-)
Absolutely! I just emailed her my letter of employment so guess we'll what happens in a few weeks!

After getting denied with my application...I think I am done with nursing for now. I should have known the competition, but took it slightly for granted thninking it would be easy to get it. I am currently taking a class for public health at National University, which thankfully I did, otherwise I would be so devastated to find out the result and not having a backup plan. National Univesrity Nursing program is as competitive as Kaplan and harder (i think) to get it because of the TEAS. I would suggest get yourself prepare for TEAS. If you need a reviewer I can lend you my TEAS V book reviewer.

I have the TEAS V book but I got it AFTER the KTP! Haha. Yeah if I don't get accepted for January I'm going to definitely pursue the rest of my Gen Eds and try another approach:(. I'm not giving up on nursing though, maybe just a different route or maybe just a little slower. Ugh! Just so disappointed! You better not give up either! Just step back for a minute and try again! :)

Ive looked into them awhile ago, but was so set on this Kaplan business working out that I'm kind of back to square one! I'm definitely going back to the drawing board though. I apparently need a better backup plan! Need to finish up a couple courses then I'll be ready to apply to more places.
HI Guys, Im a newbie.. just went to the informational session. After reading your posts, it seems like I am in for a doozie trying to get in to the program. Best of luck to you all for the possible Jan acceptance!! What did you guys use to Study for the KTP? I know they give you a study guide but I am thinking there should be more resources..I guess I have to start somewhere. Thanks in advance.

I just used the KTP study guide they gave me. KTP test covered basic math (decimals, percentage, fractions), reading comp and writing. I don't think Kaplan uses writing to make their decision but who knows. The test was straightforward, I suggest you study well for it and then take the test early. If you score high enough you might even qualify for early-admission. Hope to see you in January!
