Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

I can't believe they haven't called u yet!!! I think u might have to wait til tomorrow :(

Missellamae- don't give up hope. I also got a call that I did not get in for Sept. Sounds like today's calls were all to peeps that did not get in? I could be mistaken.

There was suppose to be an alternate list, but it sounded as if there were only a couple of people on it. As a previous poster mentioned, she ended up number 8 on an alternate list and still got in. All we can do is hang tight and know that anything is possible if it is meant to be for a Sept. start:-)

I think my brain just checked out. Hahaha. This is NUTS! Ugh. Gonna be a loooong night.

don't worry I think yesterday was all the "no" calls maybe u are in so they're calling all the "yes" ones today :) trying to be positive for u!!

it does sound like it huh? I was a little disappointed but I knew the competition was high for this cohort! maybe I'll try National this time I was told they have a good program as well.

If I had all my prereqs done I would do national instead. It's the same length as Kaplan and the last time I checked it was actually a little cheaper. Plus it's a bachelors degrees instead. Much better deal. The program is a really good one. Thursday's and Friday's the students come to my floor at the hospital so I've seen how well they know their stuff.

Maybe! But I'm not gonna get my hopes up:(. It's killing me though:(. I hope either way they call early today. I've heard NU's program is a good one! I was going to look into their program before but since I'm getting a "late" start (9 years was military and NOT medical related) I wanted to try to get in somewhere sooner then later. Then go back for my BSN.

Yes, but you never know. It is possible to get that last min. Phone call that a spot opened up. You're smart; It is always best to keep all options open.I have heard great things about National as well. I am also applying to two other programs, so I guess whoever says "you're in" first, wins:-)

You haven't received a phone yet either?? There's only a couple of us still waiting I think. What's ur Reps initials? I know we can't say names on here but I'm trying to figure out if maybe its just a specific rep that hasn't made calls yet??

For those of you who received phone calls, did anyone have ------- as a rep??? I'm STILL waitin and I'm trying to figure out if she's even there right now! I know her August was going to be SUPER busy so it's making me wonder. :(.

well, second day of calls wasn't any better:( didn't get in either. My rep said there were over 250 applicants for those 60 spots. I guess that's what took so long for the DON to get through them all. She said she is going through them again to make some selections for January's cohort. Won't know anything until after Labor Day though. So I guess we keep hoping and WAITING:( I feel super deflated though.

Yes....I did get a call yesterday and why I mentioned that it seemed as though yesterdays calls were to those of us that do not have a spot for September. I'm still crossing fingers that the alternate list will get longer and maybe those of us that got the call yesterday, will get another call with better news, closer to time :-)

Don't be discouraged. Just keep applying everywhere. Which ever program is meant to be, will be the first one that offers a spot :-)
