Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

I know it's hard waiting after finding out most of us here did not get in. but just hang in there.
Maybe all the spots were filled by early acceptance....It sounds like we didn't even have a chance :(

That's exactly what I'm worrie about.

Man, my rep is usually on top of things too! Haha. Daaaaaang it! If I dont get a call tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'll be checking into the looney bin!
At least yours sounds organized. Mine can never remember who I am haha

That's probably what happened because my rep basically told me that's how it was gonna be and that I didn't have even a 40% chance. Not in those exact words but pretty close. He said a miracle would have to happen.

I don't have "experience" and I have my Bachelors Degree and that counts as experience so please don't call that bull. We are all trying to become nurses! They called me around 3:30pm and my rep did not say anything about alternates. I am thinking that maybe there will not be alternates. I know that they accept LVN students wanting to do the bridge program and a lot of applicants scored high 90s and even 100 on the KTP! I got 86 in Reading and 93 in Math and that still isn't good enough... January seems more hopeful because not as many people are trying to go back to school then.

Specializes in Hospice.

Ugh:(. That's not good. What time did they call you guys??

my rep called and left a detailed msg since I couldn't answer right away. it was around 1:45

I only call it bull because they stress how important it is to have a lot of medical experience OR a bachelors. So to me, if two years of nursing experience isn't considered enough experience then idk what they are looking for.

@T4raegirl : you got good scores! I can't believe they didn't take you! Well everyone who got over the 90s in both was accepted early so it sounds to me like ALL the spots that werent reserved for the LVNs to RN were filled

Youre going to try again right?? One thing they "supposedly" look at is being a prior Kaplan grad. I don't know how much that actually matters. I'm trying to figure out why you wouldn't have got in with those scores. Those are both really good!

I truly think that all spaces were filled with early acceptance!

I was one away in reading from getting over 90 in both, I was kinda upset but yes I think everybody was accepted early and filled the spots.
