Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
ok, well my rep said that the person who is suppose to be making the decision is out on 'vacation'. I don't want to say the reason here but let me tell you I rolled my eyes when I heard it. #reallyfrustrating lol
omg...i just rolled my eyes too lol this is ridiculous. are we just not going to find out til next week or something?!
Fliptobenurse,
They kind of showed me what my classes would look like. Yes I took College Algebra too. I would be part time until my last semester, I'll be full time. My whole thing is just if I'm able to work. I was told that I have to be open from 8-7 M-F, since I don't have all the classes I'm just wondering if its gonna be that I have one class at 8 am and my next class at 5pm, that would kind of suck. They said it could happen so be open to the idea.
Congrats on Graduating!!

hi Jime86since you are finish with pre-reqs, i think your 1st semester you'll be in fundamentals of nursing or for short "fundes" and also a clinical which probably will take 8-10 hr 1 day a wk plus you have lab which is probably right after your fundes theory class. So i think you should be ok working until your 2nd semester (that semester is one of the toughest before the last one) but dont worry about it till it gets there. On your post it didnt mention you finished math (college algebra) so if you havent done that, then they will add that class too. If you have any questions please let me know

Hello muks17, unrealstylez , missellamae
I had to kind of stay on top of my Rep, I don't like waiting or wondering so I called often, I was told that they would call but I called to check and she told me "Oh yes, you were accepted early" Sorry that you guys have to wait longer than promised :-/ My packet that I got had the sheet I need for my background check, my physical form, shot informations, and HIPPA website that we need, kind of like a check list but I think my rep assumed I already had it so I had to keep asking "Are you sure I don't have anything else I need to do?" then something comes up, from what I know though I have everything else in.

I just got off the phone with my rep. He said all the LVN slots have been filled. And that now they are only taking alternates. Grrr does anyone know if thats true? I was planning on taking my KTP friday. Because of my work schedule I couldnt take it sooner. I m so bummed. I dont want to have to wait another 4 months. He said people are scoring extremely high in the 90's.

I was told that alternates depending on where you are have a good chance of getting in because of failing background checks or not paying for school and other things like that so its good just to get all the things you can in. Sorry this is a bit late dont' know if you have taken the KTP yet. Math was general basic math, before I took mine I did a refresher on fractions, just like adding them, multiplying them and things like that. Its not that its hard but its that there aren't that many questions, so 1 or 2 missed can effect the score. First time I took it I missed 1 in math and 2 in reading so my reading score was like an 85 or something like that. I retook it to score higher.
Hope it works out for you CupcakeB!

Hi Guys!I was admitted for early admission because I scored in the 90's on KTP. My rep told me he was going to tell his students by the latest tuesday. I was given the packet for my background check, drug test and all that jazz and I ve turned it in already. I m waiting on one more transcript to see what classes are transfering in. Sorry you guys havent heard anything . Last I heard they were only taking alternates for LVN to RN. I dont know about the tradition RN's. Hope you guys hear something soon!
Jime looks like we will be classmates!
Even if you make the alternate position chances are big in getting in that session. I was number 8 in the alternate position and my rep said "anyone on the alternate position always gets in" So I waited until orientation for my rep to say, "ok you're in" so don't worry if you're an alternate CONGRATS haha
