Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
haha how funny i just came from West Coast University in the Anaheim campusI was in the middle of my nursing program taking med surg 2 and leadership and after taking those i decided to transfer out. I couldn't stand the 9 weeks of endless pressure and non-sleep and the HESI DID make you or break you. I was lucky though, when getting accepted into Kaplan, that my fundamentals and pharmacology credit and now im 1 semester ahead of the people i got accepted with. Unfortunately my loan did not transfer over and so i had to take out another loan just to pay for this school. After finishing Kaplan, Ill be $100,000+ debt. My teachers were telling me it really depends on the hospital who they're looking for. My mom's hospital, which is a private hospital, is only letting new grads with BSN's work there while other hospitals, mostly public, are hiring new grads with an ADN or BSN. One thing is for sure, if you want to transfer out and come to Kaplan you MUST have some medical experience (clinicals do NOT count) or a bachelors degree in another field. I think i made the right decision coming to Kaplan after West Coast. My friends are telling me that they're so frustrated with HESI and the professors they're going to break.
So really think about your desciion and let me know where you'll stand

p.s sorry if my thoughts are disorganized im not really a good writer
Thanks so much, fliptobenurse! That helps a lot. I passed the SLE with a 32 and the TEAS with a 77%. However, i plan on retaking the TEAS to get a higher score. I was also wondering about the medical experience. I was a part-time caregiver for almost a year for the father of a family friend before he passed. I was going to submit a letter of employment from the family i was caregiving for, stating that I was their father's caregiver, the period of time i was, and what my caregiving entailed. Do you think they would accept that? any info about that would be great. Thanks so much for your help and if everything goes well i will be at Kaplan for the upcoming May term. please get back to me at your best convenience. Best.
hey everyone. i am new to this website but i figured i would get on here considering i start kaplan's RN program in 2 months. i went through their PCAT program so i am a CNA and EKG tech. does anyone have any advise? i scored an 81.8 on the teas and got in. i will for sure let you guys know what it is like. i may even do a blog through all of the program. i just turned 18 so it will be interesting being the youngest going through. 24 months of living hell await me. haha. let me know if you guys have any questions about the process of getting in cause ive spent almost the last year on campus with the PCAT program.

Please keep me posted on when you get in. Heres my personal email, [email protected] . Lets keep in touch since well prob be in the same program.

I really REALLY want to get in, but I have no idea when they start calling people to let them know, so I keep my phone on me at all times... even though Im sure its a bit early. I will let you know if i hear anything :), likewise, let me know if you hear anything... keeping my fingers crossed!
hi im starting the CNA program on march 21 and i just had a question about the TEAS test. i went on the ATI website and it seems the only TEAS test locations are in sacramento and oakland. do i have to go to one of those locations to take the test or can i take the TEAS at kaplan? much appreciated

Kaplan ADN program starts twice a year. January and September. Now they are trying to bring more people in since the Kaplan Commitment has started. You need to get 80's on your teas to get in and few with under 80 gets in.
Yes they are accepting more people, but they are also advertising more places in the nation.
Goodluck to all.
Actually Kaplan has 3 cohorts each year.. Jan, May and Sept...
