Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

EMThalvy, you'll for sure get in! You have plenty of experience! Great. Me on the either hand, only 10 months...eh, hope it's enough to get me accepted. Really want to get into an RN program already. :/

Thank you, I sure hope so... But nothing is for sure untill I'm sitting in class the first day! LOL! I'm still keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of us applying!

Good luck to everyone applying to Kaplan. :) I know several graduates and they are great nurses. It's a good program and you CAN succeed! I understand that the last class is the hardest but they changed it in the program to add maybe two weeks to that class so everyone can have the class time and study time they need to pass. They really care about their students it seems to me. :)

Hi everyone. I graduated high school back in 1995 and never went to college. My question is how hard are the tests to get into the RN program and how much money are we talking? Thanks for your help!

I got my call on Wednesday... I got in!!! I hope to see everyone in May =)

me too i wana know as well i am stuck :((((

EMTHalvy, I got in too! Tried my scrubs on today, got my physical, background, and drug test done...just waiting on the titers! Congrats to us!

To Candance and Gorilla:

To get into the RN program, you need either 6 months medical experience as a CNA, Patient Care Technician, or have a Bachelor's degree. Call the school and they will point you in the right direction. They have programs for the CNA and PCT program, and once you're done with that, you can apply for the RN program. Hope this helps.

Rochelle... Congrats!!! I can't wait to start!! I got my drug test an background done, I have titers done from before and I just need to schedule my physical =) woop woop, May can't come fast enough!

Hello everyone and congrats to all who got in!! I graduated recently from Kaplan and I loved it. Kaplan is a great school and you will learn a lot. Things can seem a little unorganized at times but as a nurse I was following in clinicals told me every nursing school is like that. If you can roll with the punches you will be fine. Remember that their all people who would love to be in your position as they are still waiting years to get in school. Good luck andif you have any questions feel free to ask!
