I also live in the San Diego area, I have been applying for jobs since last October, with nothing... I'm totally bummed. I really can't just pick up and move because I do have a family. If we moved out of state my husband would have to re-test for his job. I'm at a loss and stuck!

I also work for Sharp. Graduated in mid Jan, took boards in mid Feb... am hoping to transition into an RN position this summer. I don't think they were sending out confirmation emails this go around.

I am a New Grad RN, and already purchased my own liability insurance. I went through NSO as well! It cost me $50.00 for the whole year. Just google NSO or RN liability insurance and you will find the website. Alot of the RNs I work with now have their liability insurance through NSO as well. It's totally worth it!

What about CLRT (continuous lateral rotation therapy) vs q2hr turns on a patients who are sedated? I work in an ICU and we have gotten vented patients up to a cardiac chair. Good Luck with your project!

Kaplan ADN program starts twice a year. January and September. Now they are trying to bring more people in since the Kaplan Commitment has started. You need to get 80's on your teas to get in and few with under 80 gets in. Yes they are accepting more people, but they are also advertising more places in the nation. Goodluck to all. Actually Kaplan has 3 cohorts each year.. Jan, May and Sept...

The application process ususally closes 2 months prior to the start of the program cohort. The program ususally starts around the 15th of the month, so the deadline will be somewhere around November 15th. You should have plenty of time to get your MA class complete and get your certification before the deadline. I hope that helps!

To all those who were talking about Sharp Grossmont. I had an interview in the NICU this past Thursday. There are 4 positions open and 288 applicants. I'm not sure when I should hear back about the positions, but am surely waiting with my fingers crossed! I also applied for Grossmont ER and have not heard back yet.

I have heard back. I had an interview this last Thursday morning. However, in one of the departments I applied in, there are 288 applicants for 4 positions. It is very competetive and although I am a current Sharp Employee, there is still not a guarantee that I will be hired as an RN in the current new grad program.

I am in nursing school now (ADN) and have worked full time throughout my whole program and plan to continue to do so until I graduate in the Winter. i also have a husband and 4 yr old twins at home. it's very doable!

I got an 86% on my TEAS testing. But from our DON she said anyone above a 75% will be concidered. It's based on a point system. I can't tell you how I got in, just know I got the call that I was accepted! When I applied, my application deadline was March 14th for the May 14th start date. It seems you all got a little more time for your application deadling. I got the call on April 2nd that I was accpeted into the program. Again, good luck to all of you!

I am a current ADN student at Kaplan. I'll try to cover as much as I can, I have read the last 5-10 pages of posts and wanted to (maybe) answer some questions. The program is strict. You can not miss more than 2 classes/clinicals per semester or you will be dropped from the program. You do have to have at least a 75% in the class to pass. If you fail 2 classes, you are dropped from the program as well. They suggest that you not work while attending their program, but I have worked fulltime all the way through so far. Most classes are in the morning or early afternoon, but the latest I have been in class is til 6pm. Clinicals can be at anytime. As far as financial aid, they will not talk to you until you are admitted into the program. They will help you get grants and loans, however if there is a cost which is not covered, you will have to make monthly payments, and from what I understand, some classmates have had payments around $1000 per month. As someone posted, there are many pros to the program and some cons. The biggest con is the scheduling, we do not get our class or clinical schedules far in advance, so it's hard to plan your life so to speak.
