Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

Hi CNAVin,

Not sure of your name so i used your username. Thanks for all the info. Do you know if there are any other facilites that they use for the cna program or that is the only one....it seems sooooo far. Yes i do plan on taking the rn program, and if everything goes as planned can enter in the april group. My sister in law works at sharp mary birch which is where i primaraly want to work, so hopefully i can work as a cna there for my 6 months. Did you like your cna.... i feel like i have to know all the details... was it hard??? And why are you deciding to go the LVN route?

im not sure about the facility.. but yea maybe.. haha.. i live here in mira mesa and i drive there for about 30mins or something.. right now i enjoy being a cna so far.. it was hard at first.. but when you use to it.. everything will be ok.. dont worry.. you can do it.. haha.. good luck on your study!:)

o, i live in mira mesa too. When did you graduate?

hi to anyone out there,

man i need to get in the sept program. anyone out there who is in the program know what is a good score for the TEAS and what the DON looks for when he or she picks the applicants? just wondering

Hey Fliptobenurse

I got an 80% on my Teas I am not sure if i should take it again or if its enough to get into the ADN program but i do have lots of other pointers to get in. I am still stressing out and hoping that i'll get it in. But i saw a big stack of applicants so I am a bit worried with competition. My admission rep did not seem worried so I dont know.

The DON looks for:

Experience

Where you studied for your medical experience

Wonderlic Test

Teas Test

Your Certificate/License

Verification of Employment and maybe a little more. Deadline is August 1st so we'll find out if I'll get in or not.

yeah i got an 80% on my TEAS too and i was pondering if i should of taken it again but my consulor said dont worry its a good score you're a contender you should be fine blah blah blah...idk i might have an edge i might not will see how it goes haha

I'm almost finished with the ADN program at Kaplan in San Diego. I think it's a good program, but you have to be focused and you have to be dedicated to the program. It's extremely time consuming....but all nursing programs are. In the beginning of the program many students work, but once you get finished with your first semester.....most have to stop working in order to keep up.

There are many different opinions about the quality of the program. I've found that most of the instructors and most of the students are really good. The program is intense but it has to be to get students out and able to pass NCLEX. The best advice I can give is to work with one admissions rep and to go to the same person for information and questions. The program is fast paced, so it works best for people who like that type of learning and are able to stay focused and organized.

Good luck in your decision!

Hello there, I was looking for information about Kaplan college and came across your post. By now you should have completed your ADN program. Would please give me some insights about the program? How was the NCLEX for you? Did you got a job right the way? Did you go on with you education? Did other colleges accepted your ADN from Kaplan to a continue education? Sorry about all these questions. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Thanks! :)

so do they offer evening classes?

well there was 9-10 of us taking the TEAS that day and i know that at least 2 of them got higher then an 80% :sniff:. I was working in clinics as a medical assistant for 2 1/2 years but i got my degree at bryman so well see what happens *fingers crossed.* say what is the difference between the PCAT and CNA or is that the same thing? what is your medical experience? im hoping only 90-100 applied for these term just to make it safe haha. oh my admissions rep is ---- . She told me that my TEAS score was a contender and you shouldnt worry about it but i was kinda freaky out at the time. Whose your admissions rep? hopefully we BOTH get in this program
